Eating Enough and Exercise.
Hello everyone, first time poster here ☺️. I had my gastric sleeve surgery in May 2017 and have kept off the weight. I just started a body transformation fitness routine to help with all the excess lose skin and to lose these last 15 lbs that just won’t come off. My question is regarding not being able to eat all the food my personal trainer has recommended for my meal plan. It’s 90 grams of protein, 80 grams of carbs and 40 grams of fat. I’ve been working out 5 to 6 days a week.
I have been able to eat all of that only ONCE in the months!. The rest of the days, I can’t even get close to eating all that protein, can’t eat all those carbs. I’m very tired. My trainer keeps emphasizing the importance of eating my carbs but I can’t do both a carb AND a protein. Any advice? I haven’t been able to lose these last pounds BUT I have lost several inches and my skin is tightening. Though those things show progress, you guys all know that we really depend on seeing the numbers go down on the scale.
Any advice regarding eating and high intensity workouts? T.I.A.
ps my Personal trainer also recommended a fat burner supplement, but it’s an appetite suppressant 😭. Any advice?
Re: Eating Enough and Exercise.
Personally, I wouldn't try to force myself to eat anything that I know I can't handle. If you physically can't eat that much, don't do it.
Re: Eating Enough and Exercise.
That sounds nuts. Don't overeat, your stomach WILL stretch. Plus you aren't training to be an Olympic bodybuilder, you want to tone and shape up.
Watch "Real Talk: Busting the PROTEIN Myth after Weight Loss Surgery" on YouTube. Makes a lot of sense to me. Plus I think it's funny when he says none of us need to worry about protein unless we live in a third world country. Of course if you exercise a lot you need more food than patients who do not, but I don't think any where near what is being suggested to you. Is your trainer an expert on weight loss surgery? You certainly don't need an appetite suppressant, you have one built in, your sleeve.
Congrats on losing your weight and keeping it off!! Way to go!

HI Veronica, well done on keeping it off. I also have a PT that keeps telling me I don't eat enough carbs. I just tell him I can't manage it. I exercise 6 days a week and allot of time its HIIT activity. I find because I can't eat allot in one go, I do have a few snacks, like protein bars and yoghurt in between and that helps with the energy. Stick to your own eating plan. Good luck. :)

Crickey!
I wonder if this person knows how hard that is for a person that is sleeved.
Congratulations on the weight loss and You know I wonder if you eat more pulses and beans because they are really good for energy and stamina.
Things like Quinoa and Kidney beans perhaps as a spicy dish with flavours or aromatics that you like that might be easier and some great energy carbs such as your veg like spinach.
I would say a variety of what you are eating will help Do you like liver and Fish they can really boost the energy if you can mix it up with a colourful collection of tiny size veg I add spinach, carrot, red & green pepper red onion garlic beansprouts sweetcorn and then use a cup full of these with a dash of olive oil seasoning if you wish and cook in the wok and then I have Either - fish, chicken, steak, mince, pulses. I try to go for a variety of tasting everything, I know sometimes feels like we are eating nothing because it is so small a portion.
Maybe a handful of nuts such as cashew, walnut almond, hazelnut as a snack.
I usually have enough left for another meal for either the next day or later.
Also, I have steak sometimes for breakfast you know a small portion.
How about adding a scoop of protein powder to a hot chocolate as a snack too I do that if I have low energy due to lots of physical exercise.
I wish you well!

Are spicy food helpful in any way?
Re: Eating Enough and Exercise.
What an idiot, that trainer.
You follow your wsl rules, given to you by your bariatric team.
They know what they are talking about.
And please, do NOT take that supplement!
Is he/she out of his/her mind?

Is it gastritis? Not really sure.

Focus on consuming a well-rounded diet that includes a variety of nutrient-rich foods. Include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats in your meals. Aim to meet your body's nutritional needs while avoiding excessive intake of processed foods, sugary snacks, and unhealthy fats.
