Most Peculair
The past 4-5 days I have "wanted" carbs that aren't particularly healthy. Not that I was hungry, but in some way craving them. I did eat some, without guilt, since I logged them in my tracker and watched my calories over all. But my weight went up. Which really surprised me because my calories did not.
Then I started feeling achy, yukky and tired; came down with a gigantic spring cold this morning, but the weight (3.5 lbs) went away.
I think that's peculiar. Does anyone else have weird weight things when/while they are ill?
Mostly curious.
Oh, no desire for those foods as soon as the cold kicked in. I think next time if it happens, I will remind myself that it preceded a cold, and wait to see if that happens!

Re: Most Peculair
Each time I get a cold, or bronchitis, fever, or pollen allergies etc my weight goes down (2 to 4 pounds). But if I take meds, it's back up in a flash.
May be you wanted carbs because you just needed comfort food?
Carbs can have some weird effect on me. I noticed corn flour (polenta or nachos) is especially bad, makes me gain like crazy...even if those calories are fine for the day. It's all about how it works on the hormones...plus corn is supposed to be bad for the guts because it does make our intestine permeable to bacterias...I don't know...so many theories...
I know that for me, big carbs craving always came with either anemia getting worth, or even before an hemorrhagic episode! somewhere our body has it's own crystal bowl..

Re: Most Peculair
I'm sick this week too. I'm down a little in weight. I haven't exercised all week. Been sleeping a lot! Let's all get better! Wanted to hike today but hubby told me I'm nuts.
I did forget lunch yesterday, so am probably eating less doing so little.

Re: Most Peculair
Perhaps your body was "holding" on to the weight to help fight the cold. I actually got a really bad stomach virus, and the day before I came down with it; I remember so hungry and wanting to just eat unhealthy foods. I was up about 2 pounds a week before the virus, but lost like 5 pounds the week I had this 24 hour "bug."
Feel better, ladies, it's getting nicer out and we want to go out and enjoy life!

Re: Most Peculair
I think its our bodies telling us they need a fix in order to get better. I have been feeling 'hungry' and craving things this week and going up and down by 500grams. Then today I came on and realized its just the hormones at that time of the month. My hormones are all over the place and I crave unhealthy foods when I am due on. I hope now it will sort itself out, but then it starts all over again in about 2 months time. Good luck to everyone, and lets hope we can all feel better. :)

Re: Most Peculair
Hope you are all feeling better soon!!!
It's interesting how are bodies react to different things.
We are in Autumn now and heading into our Winter. Can't say I am looking forward to it. I must stock up on some thermal layers. I was really cold last year.....and it doesn't even get that cold in Auckland ;-)

Re: Most Peculair
Well, our body processes the calories of a cookie very differently than the calories of an apple.
I think your body was trying to store as much as it could to fight off this cold better.
I like that!
