Hi there! I had my surgery Feb 2019. I lost 80lbs (yay!) in the first 8 months but have not lost anything since October. I saw my surgeon yesterday for my 1 year check up and he said my weight loss has likely leveled out. I'm at a comfortable weight now and I'm happy with 80 lbs lost, however, I'm not at my goal weight nor a normal BMI.
Has anyone else experience this? If so, how did you overcome the long stall? Thanks in advance :)

Congratulations on your weight loss! If you are happy with your weight, and your doctor is happy, you may need to re-set your goal weight. You can always go and take a look at what you're eating and see if you need to make any changes.
I always had my goal as a normal BMI. I didn't want to just lose some or even most of my weight. It's your choice, but if you want to lose more you will be able to. It takes dedication! Your choice.

Congratulations on your 80lb loss, and I hope you're able to gradually lose more if that's what you're aiming to do. You can do it! If not, you've still got a great loss to be proud of.
I'm in the same boat. Want to lose at least 5 more pounds, but my body isn't cooperating. Dr. told me at my one year check-up to increase my exercise. After I do an intense workout where my heart rate gets really elevated I usually have a bigger loss that week, but I still keep going back & forth with the same 3-4 lbs. It's frustrating. Thanks all for the comments and encouragement. My BMI is currently 27. I'd need to lose 15 more lbs to be at a normal weight. I'm sticking to my plan and hopefully this 4 month stall will break. I feel like I'm so close to where I need to be!

I am what they consider a "slow loser". I have about 14 lbs left to go before I am at goal weight. So, I KNOW what you are going through. I do want to drop the rest but it is definitely more difficult now. However, I know what I have to do to get it done. It takes rededicating to the process and staying on task. Good luck!
Hi WarEagle, great job losing 80 pounds! That takes work. Losing more takes even more work. When you are heavier it takes more calories just to keep your body going during the day than when you weigh less. As you lose weight, it takes fewer calories to run your body. So....it's likely that your calorie intake is equaling your calorie usage. You might want to check your BMR. There are lots of calculators available online. You may have to increase your exercise and/or take a hard look at what you're eating. The last 15 pounds before I hit my goal weight with a BMI of 21 was extremely hard to get off. When I weighed 80 pounds more than I do today I burned about 363 more calories every day without any activity. To get to my goal I increased my exercise from 1 hour daily to 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours a day, plus being VERY mindful of my eating. You can do this, but it will take even more dedication. Best of luck!
