Dehydration
I have a concern after surgery. I work out a couple hours twice a week in martial arts. I do drink water during practice but cannot “sip” during those hours. How does anyone on the forum handle working out especially if you cannot drink. Also how do you handle not drinking when sleeping. Hopefully you can slill sleep the night through. I’m already having water by my bed to get ready. Any feedback?

Re: Dehydration
You can drink, you just can't take big gulps with a newly healing tummy. That's why they ask you to sip at first. I don't understand the "How do you handle not drinking when sleeping" question. No one drinks while sleeping. If you wake during the night you can certainly drink. And you can certainly drink while working out.

Re: Dehydration
The only time you have to hold fluid intake is while eating and they ask you to wait st least 30 minutes. Rest of the time you can sip away and it’s recommended to stay hydrated. Good luck and hope we have helped.

Re: Dehydration
The inability to drink except for sips is only during the first few months. I am a little over 1 year out from surgery and can get 32 ounces of water down fairly quickly. I exercise daily, and for significant time periods (1 - 2 hour runs / 11 - 15 miles) and have no issues with dehydration. It was a challenge the first few months after surgery, but got easier with every passing day. I don't even think about it now. The only restriction that I still adhere to religiously is not drinking 1/2 hour before or after eating.
Hope this helps!

Re: Dehydration
You just have to space out eating from drinking. But you can drink all day. I think that the main concern about not getting dehydrated is that often people will not feel the desire to drink. And you have to remind yourself.

Re: Dehydration
Thank you all for the feedback. I understand now. I originally was mistaken in my thought that the Sip Sip was going to be going on for the rest of my life and didn't realize it was a temporary thing. Thinking too much! Thats me!

Sipping forever would be miserable! Glad to have cleared things up. You'll do great, it really is fun.
