New Sleeve Patient
Hi all,
I had a gastric sleeve done on the 22nd of December, 2016. I decided that it was time to take care of me and so the decision was made. I look forward to advice and any support I can get right now. Hope this motivation and determination keeps with me so i can meet my goal weight.

Re: New Sleeve Patient
Welcome Cwilliams! This place is amazing for support and to learn from others who have been in your shoes. I am 8 weeks out and loving my sleeve. Lots of things you learn along the way. And while you can get a lot of good information on here, please remember that no two people are the same. We are all here to learn and support each other. How has your recovery been so far? Any issues? Remember your sleeve is a tool and not a magic bullet. If you embrace the new sleeve lifestyle you will succeed. I watched my sister get sleeved 5 years ago and I regret waiting so long to do it. She has been at goal and maintained for 4 years. We can do this!! And congrats on your new sleeve and taking the first step to a healthier you!

Re: New Sleeve Patient
Hi,
My recovery has been good actually. I've had 2 days where I was really lethargic and weak but knew I had not consumed enough for the amount of energy I was putting out and fixed that very quickly. I had a lot of issues finding the right protein powder but have fixed that issue also. I'm glad I found a place to get support from though. No one in my family or that I know has had this surgery or anything like it so everyone was shocked when it was something that I wanted to have done and its hard to talk to them about my thoughts and issues that I do have with it. I don't regret the decision at all. I feel much better about myself already and I'm so motivated to do more things especially exercise. I even joined a gym yesterday ;) Thank you for responding and showing support.

Re: New Sleeve Patient
Hi Jp,
My surgery was at 12:00pm. Thank you very much. I have dropped 14lbs since leaving the hospital but the rest of it came from the cabbage soup diet they put me on before surgery and some came off before I knew i was having it just by using a proportion plate and cutting out Mountain Dew lol. You are doing great also. How are you doing with the stage you're in now?

Re: New Sleeve Patient
Gah!! I remember the cabbage soup diet!! Definitely works but like any diet it isn't long term. Glad to hear you're doing so well and recovery has been pretty smooth. I know you said you just joined a gym. Some of us will be starting the C25K program tomorrow. It's a free app by Zen Labs to train you to be able to run a 5K without getting hurt. It's 30 minutes 3 days a week. It's a combination of running/walking. Did it years ago and it so works. You can do it on a treadmill or outside. I recommend strength training on the in between days. We'd love to have you join us. I redid weeks until I felt comfortable enough to move on.

Re: New Sleeve Patient
Lol the cabbage soup diet was horrible. I cant even get past the smell of cabbage right now. I thought I'd never recover from the smell. How would i join? God knows I need all the support and motivation I can get right now. Just download the app? I can't run because I had an Achilles tendon repair and even though its been 8 months since that surgery I'm still recovering. But I do walk at least a mile right now since surgery.

Re: New Sleeve Patient
We're just downloading the app and checking in on each other for accountability. :)

Re: New Sleeve Patient
CWillams, My stage, We will be seeing the doctor Tomorrow (10 Days Post Op), for my First Post Op check up since leaving the hospital, it should have been 7 Days like Laura's but with the holidays we rescheduled, Tomorrow will be Laura's 2nd Check up and my First. I have been doing well, my wife Laura is an excellent inspiration..... As for exercise, I really have No energy other then to walk, yesterday I wanted to charge out of the house for a 4 Mile up and down hills. We took the elevator to the ground floor and did 24 minutes walking....... I was drained. Soon I will begin my exercise Bike workouts to get my endurance back.....
Have a Great Day!!
