Hello ~ is there anyone who had surgery in Mexico?
My name is Marci and I have made the decision years ago I need to have this procedure. My insurance will not cover it, and am taking the steps needed to have it done paying for it myself. The cost is much less in Mexico, but that is kind of scary. Does anyone have any experiences, good or bad, from having it done out of the US??
Your comments, encouragement, and information is much appreciated.
Excited to get started on my new life!!

I went to mexico and had it done. I had a good experience but this was back in 2011
Re: Hello ~ is there anyone who had surgery in Mexico?
I haven't gone yet, but am scheduled to have the procedure done on July 20th! I couldn't be more excited. I have friends who have had several procedures done down in Mexico, not the sleeve, but other things. My parent also regularly visit Mexico for dental work. It's unfortunate that insurance companies doen't help you out, but it's also sad how much more expensive it is to get procedures done here in the USA.
I will be keeping a blog of my experience, if you want to keep an eye on it.
Best of luck to you.
Tara

That's awesome! I will be following your experience. Which city and facility in Mexico are you going to? How did you find them?
Re: Hello ~ is there anyone who had surgery in Mexico?
There are tons of people on here who have had it done in Mexico. I went through insurance and while I love my surgeon and his staff, with all the time it took (7 months) and the amount I still ended up paying, I wish I would have done it in Mexico. Just my two cents. Just make sure you do your research on your surgeon.

Hi. I'll be going with weight loss agents with Dr. Almanza in Tijuana I just researched online and this is where I could get financing. I will also have two friends going with me and they will be having the procedure done too. We are all very excited.

I'm here and had surgery on Tuesday. I went through Trinity Medical center and it's been amazing. My coordinator prepared me for everything. The hospital is a full functional with a blood bank, lab, diagnostics and tons of medical staff. My doctor Dr. Pasten spoke perfect English. PM me if you want more information.
Re: Hello ~ is there anyone who had surgery in Mexico?
I had surgery in Tijuana with Dr. Jalil Illan. I had a very good experience. The facilities were very clean and the hospital staff was very attentive and caring. Just the overall vibe of the hospital was nice deinitely different from my experiences in Los Angeles. It is very important to do your OWN thorough research. You should choose the right surgeon for you based on your individual needs. This is our body aterall and it is a life-changing decision. Best of luck. But no reason to fear Mexico as long as you do your research. There are wonderful, average, and shady doctors wherever you go!

Hi Marci, I went through weightloss agents and had Dr Almanza 1-24-17. Best experience‼️ Everyone was wondering and spoke good english and enjoyed their job. The hospital was nice and clean with a lab, ER, ICU. State of the Art OR's. The hotel you stay out is very nice with comfortable beds and 24 hr nursing staff. Nice area around hotel and hospital, very convenient location from each other. The drivers are all great too. We could walk safely around the area too. I was a high risk patient and the doctors were very thorough before my surgery getting all my records and had me do extra test and no additional cost. Spent 3,600$ for everything. I would choose them again. I didn't have any complications or problems. lost 103lbs so far. :):)Saved my life. I know Hike and starting to climb mountains. Getting ready for climbing school, so excited. I ride a road bike too, up to 45 mile road trip. Belong to hiking and cycling club's. Having the time of my life‼️ Happy to answer any questions. Good Luck

I had surgery with Almanza 5 years ago yesterday. It was at his old location at Jerusalem Hospital. I did very well and 5 years later I am still holding at my weight I was at after the initial weight loss. There are good and bad doctors anyplace and yep Mexico did freak me out a bit but I would never have been able to do the surgery up here in the states due to the cost plus my BMI being right at 30
Re: Hello ~ is there anyone who had surgery in Mexico?
I had surgery in Mexico 1-3-17. I had 2.5 months of complications. But the rate of complications is less 1% whether you have it done here or in Mexico. Even after all that I went through, I don't regret the surgery! I am down 70 pounds so far and I feel I have empowered myself with a tool to keep my weight off in the future. If you have any specific questions feel free to PM me... Good luck and I say go for it!
Re: Hello ~ is there anyone who had surgery in Mexico?
Hi I believe me I understand. I wanted the surgery forever in the states, and my insurance did not cover as well. My boss had it done, but I didnt have money to pay $17,000 cash. I was just about to give up then I found this place called Weight Loss Agents, and they saved my life. I still needing financing even with it being cheaper in mexico. I was able to funding. I went to Laredo all by myself my Houston. I had the greatest experience ever. Dr. Villarreal is very skilled and his staff was amazing. The hospital was very clean, and once I got there I realized us Americans are to spoiled. The only difference is the use of equipment, like they still take the temperature and through the mouth, and your blood pressure machine is the old school kind that you pump up. I had my surgery Jan 27 of this year and have lost 37 lbs my goal is only 50 lbs. Just do your research and you will be find. I hope this helps, and good luck to you.
