One Week Till Surgery!

This has been said probably thousands of times on here, but this is how I feel, ~ I am excited and nervous at the same time with my surgery being in 7 days. I just want it to be over with and my new authentic life to begin. When I had the lap band in 2006 I wasn't nervous at all but I am 14 yrs older and not sure why I am feeling this way. I read all the new activity on here each night, which is so helpful and can't say thank you enough. Soon I also will be sharing my journey and hopefully helping others. My doctor only said that I have to do 3 days of a liquid diet but I decided to do 7. I want to be the healthiest I can be, and my liver to be small. lol

Hi Bonnie. I think you are wise to do the liver shrinkage diet for longer as you will be giving yourself every chance you can of a successful and straight forward procedure. I had my surgery on 21st Jan and have just started eating mushy foods. I feel I have been very lucky as I have not taken a pain killer or had any of the potential problems (sickness, reflux etc) that could have happened. I am not naive enough to think this may still happen as I move towards solid food but right now I have been amazed with my progress. I have been sticking strictly to the instructions from the doctors and my dietician and ensuring that everything I eat has some nutritional value. To be honest I have enjoyed researching and cooking to make sure I get protein and the correct mix of vitamins/oils etc with each meal. I was originally considering the band but decided against it for many reasons so I’m sure your decision to now have sleeve surgery is the right one so try not to feel nervous but absolutely feel excited. Good luck with your pre op diet ( I lost 11lb on pre op diet) and your surgery. Keep us up to date with your progress x

What you're feeling is absolutely normal. Surgery is a big deal. However, on the other end of it is the wonderful life you will experience with your sleeve. Come back and keep us up to date on your progress. Good Luck!

Sandown, thank you so much for your sharing. I am so happy for you that you are into the mushy phase and not taking pain pills! I pray that my surgery will go as smooth as possible. It's funny, but I am starting out at about the same weight as you have. You are doing so good and should be very proud of yourself.

Kenson, thank you for your Uplifting words! I can't wait to be on the other side. I need to stay positive and excited. I am so thankful that this surgery is available. If it was not, I'd still be in a bad place.
