15 days out...how much longer on Isopure?
My procedure was 15 days ago. Slamming down my 2 each 20 oz. Isopure protein is the absolute worst
part of my day. A few flavors are better than others.
How much longer can I expect to have to do 100+ grams of protein daily? And when will I be close
enough to "86" the Isopure?
Thanks,
Ron Rosenbaum

2 weeks out you should be able to move onto pureed food. But do as your surgeon/nurse tell you. Did they not give you a post-op diet schedule?
Re: 15 days out...how much longer on Isopure?
Yes, Zeke, we were given very specific dietary instructions, transitioning from all liquid, to soft, puréed foods added, to
where I am now, which is the I introduction of fork tender foods. AFAIK, we are still required to take in 100-120 grams protein daily,
which is a good amount of food, sure to slow down weight loss.

Oh wow - I was never told to take in that much protein. Around 80 to 100 grams for my plan.
By this time I would stop the IsoPure if I were you. I could only tolerate the grape. If you like Carnation Instant Breakfast (which I loved as a child) you should try Dymatize ISO 100 Gourmet Vanilla. 2 scoops in 16 oz. of water and you'll get 50 grams of protein. Less water if you like. Dymatize ISO 100 is my favorite protein drink (NOT CHOCOLATE!!!!) but cinnamon bun is pretty good too. You can purchase at GNC.

Question? I thought you could only digest 30 grams at one time so taking 50 grams would me 20 grams goes no where....I dont know thats what I thought lol.

You're right, but I guess if it takes an hour to drink it, it'll be absorbed better.
Re: 15 days out...how much longer on Isopure?
Yea - It takes me a while to drink a 16 oz shake. The first 8 oz. goes down pretty quick then I just sip. The drink has lasted anywhere from 2 to 4 hours. It has lasted me until lunch time before.

Off topic lol...Guess what??? I just ate my first shrimp...lol I'm actually still working on 3 1/2 oz of shrimp. Next time I will just eat 3 oz, but I still ate it at 4 weeks...

So if you eat an 8 oz filet with a 6oz lobster tail, half of it passes through you into the toilet with no nutritional benefit???
Zeke...just got an email from Northwestern Hospital, and they may let me transition soon from 40 oz to 30 oz Isopure daily..
Their philosophy is that during recovery of the stomach, we are to consume double daily protein until told otherwise. So, just like the pre op diets, every surgeon, hospital Bariatric department has their own rules and procedures.

At 2 weeks I could start soft food like eggs. Didn't your surgeon give you a food schedule?

Yes. Directions up the ying yang. For us, sort foods began days 5,6,7 after discharge. Fork tender began the following week.
But not w/o the insurance policy of the protein drinks. We are required to get double
protein to facilitate healing of the stomach.

im 2 1/2 months out and still rely on at least 1 protein shake a day to make sure I get my protein requirement in as i always can't eat enough some days.
