I'm considering a tummy tuck with fleur de lis. Has anyone else had this surgery? If so, are you happy with the results? Would you say it's worth it? I am over 45 so not looking to do it for swim suites lol. I am dealing with rashes and infections from excess skin folds.
Some here have, I'd like to but I am chicken. Look fine with clothes on.
I've been to two seminars about it, and both surgeons said to wait one year at goal before having surgery.

I'm only a year out from surgery. I think I should wait at least another year but my gastric sleeve surgeon referred me because of the infections I've had under my belly.
I get those nasty rashes as well under my stomach and my boobs! I go back and forth with having plastics. Good Luck in whatever you decide.
Well if your sleeve surgeon referred you, go have a consultation and see what the plastic surgeon recommends. You aren't doing it for cosmetic reasons, but medical reasons. Maybe that means your insurance will cover it too. Good luck with your decision.
My insurance said that they would cover the surgery if it was not for "cosmetic reasons." My insurance will cover the removal of the skin, but they will not cover a tummy tuck with muscle repair. Everything has to be clearly documented by your doctor. Your doctor has to submit a determination form and submit it to insurance.Quote:

I had one years ago and it was awesome and really wasn't that painful, at least no more to me than the sleeve. I went from 100 pounds to 168 when pregnant and had the very loose kangaroo pouch (yes I am vain and I wear 2 piece bathing suits lol) and it helped me completely confident and sexy again.
I was so worried about how I would look after gaining 90 pounds and losing it again after the sleeve, but it honestly looks like it did before I gained all the weight. I am happy with my decision and if your excess skin is causing physical pain/symptoms, there is NO SHAME in choosing to have it done.

That's what I was told the ins will pay for skin removal but not muscle repair. I need the muscle repair both horizontal and vertical. I would have to pay myself. I'm not sure it's worth the cost. To me I do not want to go through a surgery just to remove skin.
My bariatric surgeon did recommend to wait until past the second "anniversary" to consider plastic surgery, unless you had an issue.
I also have an issue with my tummy (big pouch kangaroo style) and since I was living in Asia at the time, also had some irritation in the fold, so the key was to keep it dry, always dry really well after each shower (using a blow drier can be useful) and I did fold either my cotton underwear in the fold, or tissue that I could change when I was outside too long and was dreeping from everywhere. I was using a tea tree shower gel, and when the skin was dry I would put a little of aloe vera gel on the skin ( the one with tea tree) to prevent infection. I was lucky it never got infected, but it is high maintenance when you live in South Asia, the climate is very hot and humid and with lots of mold and things around, I saw many people catching weird skin things, so I wanted to
avoid all those.
Long story short, I saw several plastic surgeon, though I needed muscle repair since I had violent pains a few months after the sleeve, but it seems (after talking about it with many specialists) it was probably my endometriosis getting "detached" from the abdomen wall and hurting a lot because my muscles are fine! I also had a hernia near my belly button and that was corrected this year during an other surgery.
Since both tummy tuck and arm lift were covered by my insurance, I decided to go with the arm lift first because I had several tumors that needed to be removed and the arm lift was the easier solution to avoid multiple scars. I also had tumors on my legs and the surgeon did agree to treat those for free (you should negotiate with the surgeon, everything is negotiable). Plus the large bat wings were painful in many ways.
I was glad those tumors got removed because a few didn't get a clear bill of health (pre-cancerous). But since recovery was complicated, and now I need correction for "dog ears" I'm not going to do the tummy tuck any time soon. Plus I had other major health issues since the lift (I had 2 surgeries) and can't stand the idea of having surgery ever again...
My tummy is fine when I wear suits you can't really see the pouch with a jacket (and my husband is traumatized with the past two surgeries, he begged me not to think about it ) and since I'm back in Europe my skin issues are gone. After the last 12 months of complicated health issues, I must say I really don't care anymore...even if it was bigger I wouldn't do it...
But I understand why you want to do it!! just make sure to get blood tests done several months before and get you iron level as high as possible, it can take up to six months with tablets, it's quicker if you have an iron infusion. Take care and good luck!
