Surgery is fast approaching
I'm extremely nervous and worried about something going wrong. Other then that I'm excited for it I've waited 6 months for it. I'm on my pre-op diet which is probably one of the hardest parts YET. I wonder how everyone else got through it and how they did.
Re: Surgery is fast approaching
Hi and welcome.
Perfectly normal to feel nervous. Hopefully you feel excited too. This is a new phase of your life and it's only going to get better!
As with any surgery there are risk - I'm sure your surgeon has explained them to you - BUT this is a fairly routine surgery now and the majority of people here have not had any problems.
The preop was totally the worst part of the process for me and even then it wasn't really too bad. I knew that there was a definite end to it and that I was going to have a great tool to help me become healthier and much much happier.
All the best for the 16th.
Re: Surgery is fast approaching
Less than 4 weeks ago, I was in your shoes. You are going to rock it and you're going to feel so much better when you do! Thoughts and prayers are with you as you go through the next week. My doctor didn't make me do the pre-op diet so I can't say that I know how you feel.
Re: Surgery is fast approaching
My pre op was not as strict as some. I could eat a sensible meal of lean protein and veggies, 2 protein shakes, and sugar free jello & popsicles. I had to do that for 6 days. Then I had 3 days of liquid only. I was very perfect on the 3 days of liquid but not extremely vigilant on the 6 days. I did still lose weight though. It is normal to be scared. I was mostly excited. Only 8 days. Hang in there. It is so worth it.
