Half Marathon Tomorrow!!!
So I have my half marathon tomorrow. My knees have not been super kind lately so I will be running with knee braces on both knees. I am not really concerned with time as much as just finishing it. After this, I will need to do a lot more stretching and strength training to get my knees in better shape. Wish me luck!! I will post tomorrow night and let you all know how it went.
Re: Half Marathon Tomorrow!!!
The time doesn't matter a bit, just enjoy it. Too much fun xxxx

Re: Half Marathon Tomorrow!!!
You'll do great! As said above just finishing is a major victory!
Re: Half Marathon Tomorrow!!!
When I used to run races I always considered myself a winner if I beat some people. I always did!
Careful with your knees, if they start hurting, start walking.
Re: Half Marathon Tomorrow!!!
Awesomeness! You go woman!
Re: Half Marathon Tomorrow!!!
I did awesome until mile 11 when my right knee had sharp pains. I could not even walk for a few minutes. So after trying some various positions, I was able to walk by turning my right leg completely out and keeping it straight. I looked down right crazy but I finished it in 2 hours and 38 minutes. Mostly due to how long the last 2 miles took. But regardless, I completed it. Had to go to the aid station and have them wrap my knee in ice. Now I will relax, let it heal some, and then get to work strengthening it. I know I have to keep stretching it and will use my weight machine to strengthen that muscle. Overall, glad I was able to finish. I seriously got worried for a minute thinking I would have to board a sag wagon. (They pick up people who are injured or going so slow that they will not finish in the allotted time.) The thought had me downright anxious. Luckily, I powered through. So running will have to take a back seat for me for at least a few weeks. Thanks for all the love and support. Knew that I would get it from all you lovelies without a doubt.

I was wondering earlier today how it was going for you, Christie. Glad you finished! Now, let that leg heal. Don't over-rush it!
Re: Half Marathon Tomorrow!!!

Re: Half Marathon Tomorrow!!!
Amazing! 397 days ago, I bet you never dreamed you would do this! Prayers for good healing on the knee. I've been fortunate to escape back & knees still at 65, but my husband, bless his heart, gets a good bit of pain. But he was a FB player, & runner. I had horses and they don't stress your knee too much!
