You can also try tums. And see if drinking warm/room temp fluids helps. Cold fluids were tough for me for a while. So sorry you have bad heartburn. I needed antacids for about 3 months post op and then it went away. Fingers crossed for you.
Thanks, I do take Tums.
I was told not to have caffeine or tomatoe juice for 6 weeks to reduce heartburn.
Was taking 40 mg of Omeprazole 2 times a day now, 20 mg twice a day.
It should be getting better with time.
Thanks, I take the meds twice a day as well.
Unfortunately, heartburn can be a side effect from this surgery. Some people get over it within a couple of months. Some don't. I'm in the don't category. I take prescription protonix, and it helps. But God help me if I'm even an hour late taking it... the burn is real! Hopefully you'll be one of the lucky ones where it passes soon.
Pepcid complete has a numbing agent in it. It can be quite pricey.
This gives me hope. I wanna lose about this much weight.
Get it checked out with an endoscopy - prolonged acid reflux has long term and serious issues including erosion of the esophagus to the point of cancer
I am now finally in the process (after a year and a half of tests and meds) of getting approved for the revision from sleeve to full bypass to end the reflux issue
