shoulder/neck pain anyone?
Had my sleeve done on Feb 14th and at same time the doc repaired a hiatal hernia. I feel great, weight is coming off, but when I eat I get severe pain in my left shoulder and neck. It subsides after about ten minutes. I have read that it is likely caused by the hernia repair and is due to nerve irritation, and will subside as I heal. Has anyone else experienced this? Doc appointment coming up so will ask then as well. Thanks for any information.
Re: shoulder/neck pain anyone?
I just had my surgery on 3/22/17 and they repaired my hiatal hernia, too. However, I don't have any of the pain/discomfort that you've describe. At first blush, I would say it is trapped gas, but I would really recommend seeing a medical professional. Women experience heart issues in odd ways - not trying to scare you! I just think it's best to get it checked out and make sure that it's nothing serious. All the best!

I agree with Laura. It doesn't hurt to give your surgeon or PCP a call and ask. I had a hernia repair and did not feel that. I occasionally felt like the food would get stuck in my chest initially but never pain in my neck or shoulder. And the pain from gas should not still be trapped in your shoulder at this point. Hope they figure it out.

Yes, I had exactly as you described. I had a hiatal repair with my VSG as well. It does subside in time. Hang in there, perfectly normal reaction to the surgery.

Re: shoulder/neck pain anyone?
Perhaps you have a recessive disorder. You should go to any clinic. As an actively involved in sports, namely basketball, I often had back pain before. It's good that my parents advised me to go to an orthopedist. He helped me a lot, so you should always listen to the opinions of others, especially those who have faced similar problems. As soon as possible, contact a specialist. A hernia is not as scary as it seems. It can be cured if you learn about it early. But don't forget, the back is the most important part of our body. Good luck to you!
