Pain after eating
I am just curious to see if anyone else has had this problem and if so what did you do. I had my lap-band to gatric sleeve on 2/27/12 and have not had any problems since then until this weekend. It start Saturday and it was just sore almost like I had gas. Well Sunday when I was eating a piece of fish that evening it was like i could feel it "rubbing" on my stomach and it hurt too bad. It was sore for the whole night once again like I had gas. Monday when I woke up it was more sore and I had not had a bowel movement in 3 days so I still thought it was that. It was so sore to the point it was uncomfortable to sneeze. Well I took some Gas-X and have not had any relief. Today it is still sore and really hurting when i eat. I am getting a little scared that I may have messed up the incision??? Is this even possible??? I ate a few bites of a sandwhich today and maybe that it is too. Please advise, i am going to call my doctor but wanted to hear from you guys if this has happen to anyone else. On a great note I am down 39 lbs since by surgery. :) Thanks in advance for any advice.

Re: Pain after eating
It could be so many things. My first thought is of course the constipation. That can make things very uncomfortable. Then every time you eat it just builds up more. Did you eat anything different in the 3 days prior? something new since surgery?
As far as what I'd do.... I'd call the doc if you feel it's pretty bad of course.
If you want to see if "going" helps I'd go with 2 or 3 tbls of milk of magnesia and by tomorrow am you should go. Then I'd eat pretty much only liquidy food until you do go, like yogurts especially because they have such good bacteria that may help. This happens to me frequently if I get backed up and still eat solids. One other thought, if you had something acidy and you are not taking an acid reducer it may just be excess acid. The milk of mag will help coat your stomach for that as well but you can always try a tums or something to see if it helps.

Re: Pain after eating
I noticed when I ate beans and a few other foods that my stomach would be sore for a couple of days when I was at your stage. When I can't go I use a glycerin suppository.works like a charm every time and I don't have to take anything nasty.Fish hurt me a few times too.I have no idea why.I can eat it now though and beans too if I take beano. When my stomach was sore I ate soup for a day or so and it seemed to help.I think it just gets irritated sometimes.Acid reducer pills have also helped me.I take the generic zantac which is ranitadine.
