Non weight loss victory for vsg
I chose the VGS as a health option for multiple chronic conditions (diabetes, liver disease, HBP, high cholesterol, strokes, heart disease with failed triple CABG, heart stents, disabling angina.
lo
Within a month of my sleeve (10/5/17) I was off 13 of my 17 medications, and the angina, for which we had been considering a stairlift, was resolved.
THIS PAST YEAR, 2018, is the FIRST year in 12 years that I have had NO hospitalizations for anything life-threatening, chronic, and in fact, NO hospitalizations at all.
I can do the stairs, no diabetes (low BS if I don't do enough protein), no HBP (it stays 105/70), bad cholesterol 39; my Triglycerides 108 mg/dL down from 500. And the good cholesterol is up to 62.
I am down 8 sizes, to a 4 (I didn't even know that was a number) And so I feel just marvelous. Yes, it's a big life change to have the VGS, but the health benefits and the life it puts back into your world is amazing!

Oh, Annie! What a beautiful list of non-scale victories you've earned.
Life is so precious. Yet life is so brief. Both those truths become more evident the older we grow. And both of truths heighten the joy of life.
Re: Non weight loss victory for vsg
Isn't it something to be grateful for, having this opportunity to live life again?
I am so glad you are doing so great!
Keep it up!
I had a really very sad day yesterday, the daughter of my best friend since high school passed away, due to breast cancer.
Young woman, in her prime, just started a family.
Makes me realize we never, ever should take health in general for granted...

Oh my. I am so very sorry. I have had BC twice -- and lost so many dear, dear friends along the way. We take our lives for granted, and I know I've squandered away some things with poor health choices. Prayers for your friend, her family and you.

Annie, I am so thrilled for you! You really went from near death to a healthy life beyond your wildest dreams. What an inspiration to everyone here!
Now the day I fit into a size 4 we will have to declare a national holiday!!

YOU are so funny! I take the 4s out of the dryer and just think OMG these won't' fit, but they do. Of course I have no backside to speak of, so jeans are always my go to choice since retirement. My ring size is a 5 1/2, and its loose. While these are fun, the great part is NO angina, and I can walk, or climb stairs or ride the recumbent bike.
My only leftover frustration is 24/7 vertigo, which has not been treatable. So gave up horses (still have a saddle in the attic), and I doubt rock climbing will be in my future. But so many other wonderful things I can do! And you and Ann2 so thoroughly embrace life that I want to go with!

Annie this is such a great post.
We all have so much to be grateful for.
It must be a great feeling not to have had any hospitalisations in 2018. How totally liberating for you.
You are a great person and I love your wisdom and humour on this forum so I'm really glad that you are going to be around for many many years to come xxx

AnnieG, you are my hero! This is why I sought vsg also! I am already off my bp meds and have halved my diabetes meds, and hope to be off them soon as well. Would like to kick a couple of other medications to the curb, but i’ve Just started this journey! Thanks for being such an inspiration to so many!
