How soon can you travel by plane after sleeve?
I am traveling to Mexico for surgery with Ariel Ortiz My surgery date is August 5th (Thursday, first appointment) and I am flying back to the east coast on Sunday, August 8th - my flight is at 1:30. Will I be ok to fly? It's only two full days of recovery really. Flight is 5 hours and I'm concerned about blood clots. Many thanks for anyone willing to share their experience.

I traveled 3 days post-op from Mexico. It was a bit unpleasant but not too bad. I'm sure you've heard not to drink any carbonated drinks on the flight back home. Here's another pro-tip: don't drink juice either if you're flying cross-country...apple and cranberry juice ferments just a little bit in your tiny stomach over long distances, and makes for a very unpleasant feeling.

Whether the problem is minor or the person has undergone a serious course of treatment, every type of surgery has a certain amount of time to recover. This period is usually determined by the success of the treatment performed. One of the most important and common tips after an illness is to avoid air travel. Train travel may be an exception. But this requires a comfortable ride, such as on trains in Germany https://www.dbfahrplan.com/de/. Remember that your health is most important, even if you have found an incomparable bargain last-minute tours in Egypt. The length of recovery is often influenced by the type of surgery. It can range from 24 hours to 3 months.

I think it depends on your condition. I would hardly be able to travel and fly somewhere even after three days because I had nausea.

Had my sleeve in Mex, too. Surgeons advise up to eight weeks of rest before taking a flight. Since I'm scared it'll open or I'll get worse mid-flight, we had to book Airbnb somewhere near the hospital. It took me six weeks to gain the courage and strength to travel by air.
