Dr Jose Rodriguez, Star Medica, Juarez MX, BeLiteWeight
I am looking into going to Juarez MX to the Star Medica hospital with Dr Rodriguez. When inquiring about it I had to go through BeLightWeight for a patient facilitator. Has anyone had any experience with any of these? Any advise you can give is appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Dr Jose Rodriguez, Star Medica, Juarez MX, BeLiteWeight
I went through BelIteweight and had Dr. Jose Rodriguez at StarMedica in Juarez. At be lite my facilitator was Jessica and she was awesome! She always answered the phone when I called and gave me all the information I needed via email, she even gladly re-answered my questions that was already in the paperwork LOL.
I know there are a few of us on here who have gone to the same hospital and our experiences have all been the same. Its a WONDERFUL place to go; from the driver to the staff to the doctors, everyone was VERY nice!!! I was told when I was there that Dr. Rod teaches American doctors how to perform the surgery. You are going to love your doctors, they take excellent care of you there. Some of the nurses speak very good English so there is really no problems with communicating and if someone doesn't speak English they will immediately get you someone who does.
Your in GREAT hands there!

I have, Dr. Jose Rodriguez did my lapband in 2008. What a wonderful doctor and staff. The hospital is simply beautiful, very attentive and polite. You are in good, good hands.

Can I ask why you are not returning to Dr Rodriguez for your sleeve?
Re: Dr Jose Rodriguez, Star Medica, Juarez MX, BeLiteWeight
I just got home from having my sleeve done by Dr. Rodriguez and Dr. Elmo at Star Medica in Juarez, coordinated through BeLiteWeight. I was very pleasantly surprised by how nice the area surrounding the hospital was (nothing scary about it at all, and I went by myself.) The hospital itself was the nicest hospital I have ever seen, very bright and cheery and clean. There is a YouTube video that gives a virtual tour:

Dr. Rodriguez and his whole team are very warm, kind and caring and take the time to check in on you every day. My experience was that most of the nursing staff were very nice, though only a couple of them spoke any English. My absolute favorite was Lizandra, who is very sweet and helpful and whose English was very good, but she wasn't around all that much. I would definitely recommend taking an English to Spanish translation book, not just a translator app on your computer or phone, which is what I had, because the wireless very rarely worked. Also for that reason, I would download a whole lot of iTunes movies or TV shows ahead of time to watch to keep you occupied. I had a big screen TV in my room, but in situations like that I really only want to watch what I really like- I'm not a channel surfer.
Overall, as nice as the hospital and staff were, I would still not recommend going alone if you have any other option, unless you're fiercely independent and strong. It is major surgery any way you look at it, and it's a big deal. I definitely wished I had someone there for moral support and a hand to hold, but I'm admittedly a big baby when it comes to this stuff.
If you have any specific questions for me, I'd be happy to answer them. Good luck with your decision making!

Sure, My father went with me for this surgery and I am saddened that he will not be able to go with me this time. So, I and my husband decided to go somewhere different. But I assure you that you will not find a greater staff and doctor.

Hi,Fallgirl74, Im new to this site. I had lapband by Dr Rodriguez in 08 also. I loved him. Jessica was my facilitator also. I think at the time he used Hospital Angeles. My experience was wonderful. They treat you like royalty. In fact, my sister was sleeved by him yesterday. So far, she's had a great experience
