Hi everyone. I'm 5 days post op and keep getting hungry. I'm drinking fluids like herbal tea, water, protein shakes, popsicles, I fill up pretty fast but get hungry within an hour. What can I do?

Hope you get to eat purees and then solid foods soon.
When you're drinking only liquids you won't feel full, since the liquids move through fast.
Also, your surgeon should have prescribed an Rx antacid to take for the next 6 months or so, to reduce the amount of acid your stomach produces. Your poor shredded sleeve that's trying to heal does not need the irritation, AND the acid will mimic feelings of hunger.
I assume you're talking about a cup or less, right?
If that's all, no -- when it warms up it's mostly liquid. I probably was getting that much down at your tenure.
P.S. And definitely take the Omeprazole. It's good you have a Rx for it. :)
P.P.S. One other thought -- you're only 5 days post-op. Your body may still be full of ghrelin (the hunger hormone). Your big stomach produced that substance, but now that your sleeve is all that's left -- and it's the part of the stomach that does NOT produce ghrelin -- you should gradually feel less hunger. At least for many months to come.
Eventually, your body may learn how to produce it again. But, in my experience, I've never felt nearly as hungry post-op as I did pre-op. And I'm four years post-op. Lost 100 pounds. Haven't gained any back.
But believe me, I have gone to school in every way possible to learn how to live a different lifestyle than I did before WLS. But more about all that later. For now, sip, sip, sip, and take your meds. :)
I was hungry in the beginning. It passed when I was able to eat foods to an extent but I did have to take bites of protein here and there to make it pass for a while. :) Hang in there.
It's allright at the beginning
