Re: Bummed
You really need to eat, no wonder you are hungry!
Start with some protein with every meal, eggs, meat, beans, fish etc.
Then a couple of bites of veggies.
That will probably be as much as you can eat right now.
Try things that go down easily, some foods may be harder than other foods, for instance meat.
If something doesn't agree with you, just stop eating it and try a couple of weeks later.
Don't force yourself, eat what you can.
But always start with some protein.
You can eat eggs for breakfast, scrambled, poached or boiled, with a slice of cheese or ham.
A protein shake in the morning and some chicken or fish for lunch, with some veggie
Cottage cheese as a snack and again meat or fish as your dinner, again with some veggie.
All small portions.
This is just an example, you will figure it out.
In between drink your water.
You'll be fine!

Re: Bummed
That's not good. You can stall your weight loss by not getting the amount of protein you need. If you follow the wls rules, then you will lose weight. Protein first. If you go about this unhealthy, it will come back to bite you. Might not be right away but it will.

Re: Bummed
You ONLY lost 41 pounds in 60 days? Do you realize how crazy that sounds? Have you ever lost 41 pounds in 2 months before?
Eat. Get out the materials you got when you were sleeved and review them. You have a protein goal to meet, along with a fluid goal. Eating less that you should be eating is not going to make you lose faster. It doesn't work that way.

Re: Bummed
First of all, a 40 pound weight loss in two months is a HUGE amount. Five years ago, I lost only 10 and 11 pounds my first two months post-op and went on to lose 100 pounds and to maintain that weight loss.
But back to you. You're probably eating around 400 calories a day right now, two months after surgery. That is SO not what you're supposed to be doing!
If you keep doing that (not eating NEARLY enough at this point in your post-WLS program) do you know what that's very likely going to do to your metabolism? You will set your basal metabolic rate so low that eventually you will NOT be able to lose weight. Put more bluntly, you're using your new WLS situation to become an anorexic. You are not trying to become a healthy person.
FYI, my WLS medical team told me that by the time I was 6 months post-op I should be eating 1,200 calories/day (of nutritious foods, of course). If I wasn't eating that much by 6 months out, they advised, I would likely set my basal metabolism so low I would be unable to maintain my weight loss without living on a starvation diet. I took their advice and today (five years post-op) at 135 pounds I can maintain that weight eating 1700-1800 calories/day.
My advice is to find and work with a therapist (as soon as possible) who can help you make the transition from your current way of eating to following your WLS eating instructions and start NOW to slowly build the new eating and exercise lifestyle you will require to live healthy for the rest of your life.
I know this assessment and advice is blunt, but it's truly offered with my best wishes for you. Yes, post-WLS recovery is not always an easy road. And it's admittedly confusing at time, particularly for those of us who've been super-dieters in the past. But all those instructions you received from your WLS surgical team are what will serve you best long-term.
Very, very best wishes to you!

Re: Bummed
THIS^^
Please don’t set yourself up for failure. This is a marathon, not a sprint.
The initial information I received from Dr/Nut is still working today...3.5 years out.

Re: Bummed
Such great advice from everyone. I would run, not walk back to my bariatric team. Tell them exactly what is going on so that they can guide you in the right direction.

Re: Bummed
61 lbs is 244 sticks of butter. That's a lot of 'butter" in 60 days!
You've gotten good advice.
I would also add, go in and talk to the nutritionist, or to a counselor about your fears. Fears are not things that should take over; you have lots of resources, and you will have lots of success!
