Just had surgery yesterday at 10am. I am in the worst pain ever. Of course I was expecting pain after, but not like this and NOT in my neck!!!??? Any tips to helping this get better?? It is my understanding it is gas. (Weird) How long til your pain went away enough to let you sleep??? (Pain meds aren't helping neck pain) I'm sooooo tired, I can't sleep, I just want to cry....
The first two days are the worst and then, slowly but surely it gets better and better until you can't remember the discomfort you felt. I couldn't wait to leave the hospital as I couldn't sleep either, once home all was well. I hope you start to feel better soon.
Get up and walk walk walk. One of the main reasons to walk after surgery is to help avoid blood clots but the second major reason is it helps dispell the gas in your body from the surgery. For me the gas pains lasted 3-4 days with the first 2 days being the worse. Good luck toyou on your journey.

It's probably air! I had pain in my shoulder so bad I thought they had broken my arm or something... Walk and get the air out, it goes weird places and hurts like the dickens! But you'll be fine... ;)
Besides the sage advice of walking....which is spot on....try a heating pad. I know it helped me. It will only be a few days that you feel the pain most likely unless you are one of those one off situations.
Most of us get pain from the gas, but I also had some bad back pain, which was the consequence of my position on the OR table. No surprise here because my back is quiet sensitive. It was painful but got better with warm showers, hot pad and some arnica gel massaged on the bad spots. It was gone in a few days, it was basically like muscle spasms.
I distinctly remember the pain I was feeling after the surgery, never thought I would ever feel that level of intensity where you’re a second away from begging someone to knock you out cold. Moving around helped alleviate the worst of it, but the painkillers didn’t help sleeping through the night.
Yes, it was the same for me. That level of pain is nothing to joke about. How much time was it until the pain became more manageable for you? I personally couldn't stand it so my doctor recommended that I try some red vein kratom. I usually took it with some sweetened tea before bedtime and the analgesic effect lasted well into the morning.
