Getting an Arm Lift August 15th!
I am over the moon excited to be getting an arm lift on AUgust 15th. I have dealt with the flabby arms since I was a kid. Even when I got as low as 145 in 2002 my arms were still soooo flabby. I tried on two bathing suits for a 4th of July party and sent them both back even though the rest of me looked pretty good. My arms on the other hand were a big fat - nope!! Not going out in that.
How bad is the pain? What can I expect?
I am working from home and I will have round the clock care. I am planning on just a few days off from work plus the weekend as my time off and then plan to be working the following Monday. I can work from bed if need be and if I need more time I will take it. I have been through a lot medically so I am hoping I can tough this one out too. Praying for no complications.
I want to do boobs next, but want to pay a lot of this off first. Hoping after the new year I can get those.
Oh my gosh - I am so excited!!! :D

Good for you Kristi!
I would love to get plastics, but alas, so many projects, and not enough money to stretch it all out. Good Luck on the 15th!
Re: Getting an Arm Lift August 15th!
Thank you Kenson. I charging it to a card and will pay it off monthly. I want to do while working from home so if I need to get in bed - I can.

Kristi, I know you are over the surgery and on the mend! Such courage.

Hi Kristi
How are you doing?
Hopefully everything went to plan and soon you will be showing off those gorgeous arms :-)
Re: Getting an Arm Lift August 15th!
Kiwi and Annie - thanks for asking.
I am doing quite well. I was a little off on the surgery date in my original post. Surgery was actually the 12th so tomorrow will be 2 weeks post and I am doing pretty well. Other than laying around the day of surgery and the day after I have been up in my chair like normal. I have worn the compression garment as instructed. It's not as horrible as I thought it would be and iced almost every hour for 20 minutes. Pain was manageable. Of all the surgeries I have done - this one was easy recovery. I didn't think it would be because I use my arms for everything. I was back to work the following Monday and was fine.
I saw the surgeon yesterday and he was very happy with the results. He said he got me as tight as he could. He said they are still really swollen so they will go down some more. He says most of that swelling is from lipo suction. I am to go back in 2 months. He didn't do pictures this time and he didn't do measurements, but I am all about the measurements so I did them myself and I am down 3.5 inches on my left arm (the smaller of the two) and 4 inches on my right!!
Hard to tell what the scars look like right now. I am still covered in steri strips and bruises, so I am still pretty gory looking. I asked the nurse what I could put on it and she said the best thing for it is massage and some vitamin E oil or any natural oil, coconut, etc. She said the massage is the best thing for the scar healing process.
I doubt I will be wearing any tank tops in public this year, but quite possibly next summer. I am really going to work on toning them over the next year and we shall see how it looks next summer.
I will try and update with some before and afters after my next appointment. I will and get a copy from the doctor of the before.
Re: Getting an Arm Lift August 15th!
Great news Kristi. So glad that you are happy with the results.
You will rock those tank tops next year for sure :)

Re: Getting an Arm Lift August 15th!
Just a quick update at 3 months post up that I am now unhappy with my results. My friend had surgery with a different doctor and had AMAZING results. On top of that her doctor submitted it through Medicaid and they covered it. I have Medicaid and my doctor did not even try to submit it through Medicaid. I paid $7000!! Her arms preop looked like my arms post op. Her arms are so tiny now and she's still swollen. I am crushed and has sent me into a sadness I can't get out of. I am crying right now typing this. My goal was to be in medium shirts and my arms still prevent me from that. Just sucks and I don't know what to do.
Re: Getting an Arm Lift August 15th!
Oh Kristi - this is so disappointing for you. You were so looking forward to this.
Do you have an option to go back to the surgeon with your concerns? That's a lot of money to pay out for a result that you are not happy with.
Is it possible to get a second opinion to see if what was done was really the best they could do?
I so very sorry that this has not turned out as you hoped. I wish there was something that we could do to help.
Sending you lots of love and a really big virtual hug

After reading your posts, I also considered of doing this surgery, but now I'm confused
Re: Getting an Arm Lift August 15th!
Just wanted to post a quick update. I saw my surgeon today and he was not happy with the results either. Long story short he is saying that it almost looks like the surgery did not take. He said he did a lot of lipo before cutting and all together removed about 400 grams from each arm. The right is bigger than the left. He said he didn't want to pull it any tighter as he pulled pretty tight already in fear that I would lose feeling in my hands. I didn't lose any sensation past the elbow. He offered to redo the surgery on his dime, but I would be on the hook for the hospital and anesthesia cost which would be around $4000. I told him I would check with my vacation schedule and think about it and get back to him.
With that said - I am going to go and get a second opinion from my friend's doctor and see if Medicaid will pay for it. My arms still rub on the chair and now it's worse because now I have flabby arms with a big ass scar. Scars don't bother me and most people do this surgery because the scar is better than the flab. Now, I have both and that's heartbreaking.
Regardless of who does it - I am doing it again. I just hope and pray that something in this weight loss journey goes my way. I just hope I don't have to go farther in debt to accomplish this.
If I didn't have the car accident in March I would have paid off all my debt in June of 2020. It sucks at how much debt I have now with that new truck. I love it, but $80,000 for a wheelchair adapted vehicle just makes me ill to my stomach. Considering taking out a bigger insurance policy so if this ever happens again - a new truck will be covered.

Thank you! <3 It's been hard dealing with this emotionally. I will be getting a second opinion.

If you have questions regarding this please join RealSelf - there are so many stories on there of people who have had all kinds of plastics. I posted my bad story, but no one replied to it. There are hundreds of photos of surgeries that went well. Please, don't let mine confuse you. I still want thinner arms and I will go through the surgery again. If you have questions about the surgery I'd be more than happy to answer them as well. If you don't want to do it publically please feel free to PM me.
