PCOS, Fertility & the Sleeve
Has anyone had infertility due to PCOS and got pregnant after the surgery (without help)? If so, how long after surgery did it happen? I'm only 3 weeks post-op, but the main reason I finally gave into getting the surgery was in hopes of losing weight and aiding in the chance of getting pregnant ( 10 years married, 0 kids)
My doctor said he's had patients come in 3 months after surgery pregnant, but he recommends waiting until 6 months post-op.
If there's anyone out there who's already gone through this, I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience.
Re: PCOS, Fertility & the Sleeve
My niece had VSG and had been doing fertility treatments in the years before to no avail. She was pregnant 6 months after the sleeve and has a beautiful baby girl. By the way, she has lost all her pregnancy weight and now has a family AND a good figure!

Thank you, that's very encouraging!
Re: PCOS, Fertility & the Sleeve
I remember reading about a lady who tried for years and got pregnant right after she reached goal. Can't remember her user name...but if you use the search with a few key words (pregnancy, pregnant, baby etc) you might be able to find a few fellow sleevers who might be able to answer your questions.
My surgeon also told me that many of his patients got pregnant after the sleeve....for a few it was a big surprise because they were not expecting it anymore! My doc actually asked me if I wanted a fourth one....but for me the factory is closed!
On an other hand, I do have myself PCOS (and many other issues). I was told really young that being pregnant would be complicated. To our biggest surprised, it was not true for our first two children. But it became complicated for the third one. I gained so much weight by then, I think the weight was the main reason, it does mess up my hormones big time...I was getting sicker and sicker....so I started a six months diet, lost about 40 pounds, I was taking some evening primerose oil capsules to help balance my crazy hormones. Took me one year in total but it worked...so I'm convinced that weight loss will help. You could try also the oil....but many recommend to wait at least one year post-op before being pregnant because before that time the restriction is still important and it would be complicated to be able to eat enough nutriments for you and the baby.
Good luck!! take care!
