vitamin b12
hello every one
i just wanna find out if any one has the same problem
i have found that on week 11 after having my fist vit b12 jab
i feel drained and i have the need to nap in the after noons to function when the kiddies get home and find my self very very tired and craving junk food and feeling very tired and not wanting to do any thing. my toes get numb and i have pins and needles in my hands and legs and feet fingers and i find i tend to be very cold
i had my jab on friday morning this morning i woke up rather early and i am up and about and dont have that tired feeling or the numbness or pins and needles could it be that the jab can do the trick so fast ... ;)

Re: vitamin b12
I am not sure about the shot. I know that if you do not have enough B12 that you can develop neropathy. That is the tingling and pins and needles in your hands and feet. This is not reversible! We all have to take B12 every day. Also, for me, if I do not have enough protein then I get tired and cold. Not sure if that is what is happening to you. Hope this helps you.

Re: vitamin b12
Hi Flea, I have heard/read that B12 injections can be very powerful. I have not ever had one, but my dietitian wants me to take 1,000 mg of sublingual B12 every day, so I do. I have not had an issue with the symptoms you mention for weeks now...only during the first week post surgery when I wasn't taking my vitamins or getting enough fluids and proteins. I think that is key to success, enough fluids, enough protein, and proper vitamins.

Re: vitamin b12
I was not prescribed B12 at all. I guess because my exams came fine.
My doctor told me that in certain parts of the world it is common to have B12 deficiencies that are agravated after WLS but he told me that the most common cases were with the bypass, it is less common with the sleeve.
Hope you feel better soon!

Re: vitamin b12
My surgery instructed me to take B12. Because the surgery could possibly make you B12 deficient. I was already B12 deficient and took a B12 shot monthly. I continue to do so. By week three I am gettting tired and I know I need another shot soon. My mother was also B12 deficient. Possibly they need to take a blood test to check your B12. Mine was so low that it was on the very low end of the scale. The B12 makes me feel so much better. Are you taking your vitamins. I also take Biotin for my hair. I take 5000mg in am and 5000mg at night. I mix it into a bite of yogart along with my ground up blood pressure meds.

Re: vitamin b12
Wow Pat! 10,000 mg of Biotin a day! That seems like a lot! Did your nutritionist recommend that much? I was only instructed to take 1,000 a day, so now I'm wondering if I'm going to lose my hair? Please share with us where you got the advice for 10,000. and THANKS!
