I've also had a problem with blood sugar at times, and I'm not diabetic. My NUT recommended a protein and carb snack before every work out. And water!
I'm always hiking, but it hits me maybe twice a year, where I feel like I'm trying to walk through water and break out in a cold sweat. I'd just sit or lie down wherever we were and hubby would walk home and come pick me up. So weird, like I couldn't go one more step.
Now that it's hot and humid where I live I always try to get my hiking in as early in the morning as possible. The heat/sun can really drain you. I volunteered for our church service in the park this past Sunday, was in the sun for about 4 hours, drank a lot of water, but still felt like crap.
Talk to your medical team and see what they tell you. Good luck!
