Hi Michelle, I have been reading your blog and wonder how things are now? Do you regret anything, miss anything, have your taste buds changed? How much can you eat now?

How are you SelfMedicated? We've passed 6 months and I am not sure about you, but life seems to be fairly normal again. Hair loss has slowed, some days I eat well, other days it seems not so much. Still a bit sensitive to some proteins but all in all, awesome! Hope you are doing well and not hit by the current QLD tornados and flooding

Wow , look at you! Love the new hair. I am doing well........have been having the odd bouts of tears, usually when I am with my wonderful boyfriend and all is going well, I just seem to well up and get weepy...........not sure if this is related to surgery or happiness and reflection on having done it tough over the years.......all in good time I guess
    Hope you are well xx

Hey Self Medicated, was lovely to hear from you! I am doing ok, have had a bad cold with flu type symptoms that set me back a bit BUT!!!!!!!!!! I have met a lovely man and am currently in the actively getting to know each other phase! We had a great day in the country on Saturday, I am pumped!

Hiya! Just checking in...........hope you are well and happy. I had an emotional week, but that was returning to work and doing 12+ hour days.........think I feel nothing but joy and have learned you have to keep hydrated. I hope life is grand in sunny Queensland

Glad to hear you are almost pain free! I only have the tingles at my incision sites now and they look almost healed. The rapid spurts are also now a little more manageable, and far less frequent. I do read other people already having egg and wonder why I am still on liquids. Haven't lost anything these past few days which is started to be a bit depressing, but I am sure it will even out.
  11. Hi Earth Angel, everything went well I don't have a great deal of pain in my tummy area, but I do have a lot of discomfort and pain in my shoulder area which the nurses tell me that is common and from the gas. Dr came to see me this morning and said all went well. Now I just have to have the swallow test tomorrow sometime. Hope all is well with you, talk to you soon

6 month post op....

by selfmedicated on 02-15-2013 at 11:38 PM
It's been sometime since I have posted in my blog, and it has been an interesting 6-7 months. I find I can eat most foods now other then greasy things with still make me nauseated ( this is not a bad thing though lol ) I find that I can't be bothered alot of the time making decent meals which is my down fall , but I do always make an effort of having a salad wrap for lunch. Breakfast is hard to stomach so I usually have an UP and Go ` and dinner is just nothing really or I pick ( which is a bad

One week since operation....

by selfmedicated on 07-09-2012 at 05:48 AM
Okay so today would of been one week since the op. I feel fine in the tummy area, other then where my drain was, I am still a bit tender when I get up from a chair or the bed, I am wondering if this is just normal tender tummy strain. I have removed all of my coverings over the incisions, other then where the drain was, I am thinking I will leave this on for an extra day or 2, just for good measure. They are itch as !@#^ so that means they are on the road to healing.

I am SO over

Home Sweet Home .....

by selfmedicated on 07-04-2012 at 09:40 PM
Finally I am home and settled. I recommend that those who have not had your surgery yet to be prepared for when you come home, as in your 2 week supply of liquids. I should of been more organized but thankfully for my mummy, she got me some sustagen and some juices to see me through. The hardest part for me I think will actually be sitting still,I am such an on the go person and feel lazy when I don't do much, but I know I have to take it easy. So I weighed myself when I got home, 127.4kgs I was

Day Two post-op.....

by selfmedicated on 07-04-2012 at 02:08 AM
Apple juice and beef broth , yeah babyyyy! I never thought beef broth could and would taste so fricken nice lol

So the " swallow test" went well obviously,(mind you the liquid I had to drink tasted like lemongrass washing up liquid) and if I can tolerate 50 mls of broth and juice then I'm homeward bound tomorrow

So I'm sitting here drinking my broth and juice happy as larry, and looking forward to watching ' mrs browns boys' on tv tonight lol

Day after....

by selfmedicated on 07-03-2012 at 03:58 AM
Well it's 24 hours since surgery, I write this as I lay in the hospital bed. My tummy has a little discomfort but am handling things well. I have pain in my shoulder from the gas in surgery and prays this goes soon lol
They have just finished collecting the dinner trays in my ward, needless to say I didn't have one lol but damnnnn the aroma is still lingering , I'd kill for some nice tomatoe soup lol but oh well a sip of water will have to do me!
