  1. Well I have not posted on here for longer than I care to admit Since my surgery I have dealt with depression and the deep rooted anticipation of failure....I paid out of pocket to a clinic out of town which left me without any support after the surgery...in 39 days it will be 3 yrs since my surgery and I never maid it to my goal weight I was 12lbs shy of it and now I have gained 13lbs making me now 25 short from where I originally wanted to be. I have been out of work for a 1yr and a half and this has not helped my depression nor has the stack of bills growing...this depression has pretty much paralyzed me and I have zero energy or motivation to exercise. I keep hearing that little voice in my head that says "told ya you wouldn't be able to do it" my portion size is still feel are small but what I eat is what is killing me by putting on weight... now that my sob story is pretty much done ( I will spare you the rest) I am reaching out to anyone who started to put on weight and can share their experience and resolution to the issue... ( I can't get antidepressant meds right now cause no money / insurance)
  2. Hello all....I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share with me if they have taken anti-depressants after surgery. You don't have to share openly you can respond privately if you like. I just am trying to find out if taking any kinds of anti depressant will affect my sleeve. Thank you in advance for your time and help.

I am sorry your hairs are falling out! It is just our body's way of saying it is in shock from losing so much fat so fast! When you are done losing weight your hair dresser can recommend a good product to help strengthen and restore your hair. You might not lose ALL of it but a good chance it will be too thin to look ok. I suggest going to a wig shop, you will be able to find a decent wig for around $100. Try to get one the same color and style of what you already wear, it is less noticeable to others and less of a shock to you! Try to go with a shorter style that way when your hair grows back it is an easier transition back to your real hair! i was surprised how much easier it was to wear then to fix my own hair! I asked my Dr. about buying Rogain when it was falling out and he said to save my money, that it would not stop it. it was better to wait until it was ready to start growing again. If your hair gets too thin and ugly to be seen without a hat or wig in public, and if it is still falling out and leaving hair all over your house, pillow, clogging the drain, that's when it is best to just buzz it off and save yourself the grief and hassle of the mess it is making! You will look Fabulous in a pretty wig at your party and in the photos!Your Weight-loss will be even more then and you will feel like a princess! The Wig will just help with the whole fabulous package! The hair loss is Temporary, but the weight-loss is PERMANENT!Take Care Love Rainbow

I am sorry you have been having such a hard time. The one thing that almost always made a difference for me was being hydrated. when you burn up fat as fuel, you still have to eliminate the waste, So the more you are able to pee the faster your body is able to burn fat and eliminate. When you are dehydrated it will make you feel week, tired and blue. If you get severely dehydrated you will get light headed dizzy and have low blood-pressure. So Dont worry so much about how much you are not eating as much as the fluid you are taking in! The Truth is fou have plenty of Fat to burn as fuel- you have vitamins for nutrition. That is the whole point of the surgery is to make your body live off the Fat for 6 months to a year! Protein is important because it will help protect your muscle, and hair. But Your Fat is a very good fuel for your body, you just need the Liquid to keep you going or it will not be able to burn it as efficiently. i hope this makes since to you! I am glad you are watching the sugar and carbs in your drinks, as you progress with more solids try to make it a goal to not "Drink your calories". I stuck with crystal light, diet Gatorade, Propel fitness water, sugerfree Ice tea, Coffee ect.. Dont worry the weight loss will take off again, this is fool-proof! By next year you will be down most or ALL of your weight!

I am doing pretty good for me I suppose and the first 6 weeks will be the hardest, dont worry about taking in to much liquids I dont think thats possible. You will be able to eat better food before long but even when your back to your full diet you wont eat but just enough to food to really make your mind mind at you.lol. I have to go one day next week and have blood work done 2000 dollars worth to be exact, I just found out that we have to have this done several times the first year and once a year for the rest of our lives, I was a little upset about that having no insurance but what can I do. Be sure to take all of your vitamins faithfully and make sure you get all of your protein in everyday somehow or another, add a scoup to your soups of sip it whatever it takes your body has to have it. I hope you do well in the days to come and if there is anything at all I can do to help please ask, God Bless you

    I hope your doing well!!!!!!!
  7. so I was released from the hospital today and trying to keep taking in liquids has been the hardest. my tummy hurts, I really don't feel hungry so its hard to remember to drink especially since I feel full. I can't wait for this week to be over so I can move on to second stage foods this chicken broth is just awful. Dr Washington, his staff and the hospital staff was amazing and I am indebted to them for helping see me through this decision. I will be back at the doctors office on Tuesday and hope I feel a lot better by then cause I have 9 hr drive back home to FL.

To be honest the surgery was much worse pain wise than I ever would have thought. Right after they woke me up I was in so much pain I just wanted to cry and my mouth was so dry I could hardly move it, but they were pushing for me to get up and walk even though I didnt even want to budge. I walked from the bed to the door and said no more now! They come back every hour or so and get u up and you will feel very bad and extremly nauseated. After a few weeks it will get better but there are so many times you just would love to sit down and eat a normal meal and cant. I get hungry just like I did pre surgery and eat a few bites and get so full until I feel sick, honestly its just enough to make you mad. Most of the times I hate to even boter eating because its such a hassel and I always feel bad after, but the good side is you will lose weight and it gets a little easier everyday. Dr washington is a great doctor but be prepared for a rollar coaster ride with pain and emotions because ive been through alot but this by far has been the hardest. Best of luck!!! I look forward to hearing from you soon

    Hi ECRU,

Yes, it was Dr. Kim at Celebration. I am sooooo sorry your insurance company did not approve. I have been extremely blessed; it took about 10 months to go through the whole process from my insurance approving to all the medical clearances I had to go through before a date for surgery could be scheduled. Dr. Kim is very strict and very thorough. I don't have a single complain from the hospital stay, the nurses and the care was outstanding. I truly appreciate your prayers and blessings. God bless you abundantly as well.

Thanks, ma'am for making praise about my mostly good fortune. I'm glad things have turned around for you, and I could just hug your husband's neck for helping you out! I am looking forward to seeing the changes coming your way, and I truly believe that once your health is under control, you will conquer everything else in your path! Happy Easter!

Hang in there we all get the jitters and wonder if we are doing the right thing. Well for those babies you are and you want to be around for them even more. So just hang in there and good luck.
  14. Sharon I am curious can you tell me what you had to do for Pre-op did you have to do liquids only 2 weeks?

Yes, I had a drainage tube while I was in the hospital but he took it out before I came home. It helps him see that you are not bleeding internally due to a blood vessel not being tied off properly or something. it wasnt a big deal. Good luck with everything

Wtf??? Freaking stalled

by ECRU on 06-04-2012 at 08:26 AM
Ok....I understand from all these post that everyone has stalls, I get it! my question is how long are they suppose to last! I am starting to get Pisst. I have been losing and gaining the same 3lbs since week 2. (I lost 9 pre-op and 14 post OP)I am 34 days out and have not lost anything since week 2 I just keep going back and forth with these stupid 3lbs. I wouldn't be so upset if they would just stay off and I stalled and my weight didn't do anything but the going back and forth is making me crazy!

Home Sweet Home

by ECRU on 05-08-2012 at 09:02 PM
So I am back home from SC safe and sound! but my mind keeps wondering and thinking what if this or what if that since it's only been 6 days since my surgery. Doctor Morris Washington in SC was amazing and I am so thankful that I was blessed with the opportunity to have my surgery with him. Now God willing I will recover completely and smoothly and become that person I know deep down I am under all this weight. I hope an pray the same for all the current and future sleeved patients.
