I have had a gastric sleeve.

Biography:

Single mom of twins who were born three and a half months premature. I was an orphan, and had a pretty tough life. My issues with food started when I was 3 or 4 years old. I have spent many years getting counseling and feel that I am ready, and able to get the weight off and keep it off, this time...with the help of the sleeve gastrectomy. My surgery was originally set for June 7, 2012, but the insurance said "no!" I appealed, and now the insurance is going to allow the sleeve for everyone...so I consider myself to be the pivot point, on which, God saw fit to make it better for us all. I sure wrote enough letters, made enough calls, and had superior help from my surgeon and her assistant. I will also be getting a slightly larger sleeve because of the heartburn...the newest thing is to make the sleeve slightly larger to accommodate the high pressure system and lessen heartburn for people like me....and others in the future....so this few months of waiting has produced the most current advances with the procedure, and for that, I feel fortunate. I am nervous about having surgery, but so very hopeful and just trying to work out a ride there and back, and someone to help me afterward...someone besides my children. Aside from working toward the sleeve, I am a school counselor who cannot seem to find a job...so I work on that, and taking care of my children with special needs.
