I wanted to ask you about your experience with GHP. I found out that when I get denied coverage for the sleeve by Medicare, that my supplemental insurance will cover the surgery in full. I have no real faith in the surgeon in my present program because she has done so few sleeves (someone in the program let it slip - 5!) I will have to transfer as much of the tests and classes, etc. as whatever clinic I choose will let me. I have heard your clinic has good surgeons. I appreciate whatever information you wish to share. Thanks! hugs...

Hi, fellow Michigander! If I get approved by Medicare, I will be 67 when I have surgery. I have good skin now so I hope it handles an 80lb weight loss with grace. Where will your surgery be done and by whom (if I may be nosey)?

Hi, Hope all going well for you after surgery. I have not had my sleeve yet (had band removed) April 17 is my day. Have been busy today booking flight and hotel. Makes it seem more real. 55 is a good age to do this as believe it or not skin is usually firm enough so you do not too much extra left. Lose slowly, lots of fluides and I know they want low fat but good fat olive oil helps skin. Yaa for us.

About mi49301
Sleeved or not sleeved:
I have had a gastric sleeve.
Biography:
Been up and down in weight for years. Highest weight 300lbs. Finally decided on WLS because of all the good things I was finding out about the sleeve surgery. I started at 250lbs. It has been 1 month since I started the high protein foods. My surgery was on February 21st. Today at my 2 week check in was feeling pretty good, however still have some abdominal cramping and fighting black tongue thrush. But my weight was down 22lbs and so am now 227. That felt pretty good, it also felt good to know I could begin some soft foods today. I did tend to try to many different things but was not able to take much in.

having a hard time sleeping

by mi49301 on 03-16-2012 at 01:52 PM
Went to the doctors office today with my friend who was having her 2 week post surgery meetings. She is having a harder time, so she has had to make several trips to a center to get needed iv fluids. She also got the flu while in the hospital. But thankfully she is moving on to soft foods today and hopefully will be able to take some nourishment in now. I got on the scale and was down another 4 lbs since the last time. Slow but sure is fine with me! Happy day the sun came out and it is lovely

March 16th favorite meal right now~

by mi49301 on 03-16-2012 at 02:38 AM
Well my surgery was on February 21, and I have been on the soft foods list, given to me by my dietician group. My favorite food right now that goes down pretty well (though it still takes a while) is re=fried beans, mild salsa and cottage cheese. Feels like I am having some normal food finally that is not a member of the "artificially sweetened protein drink food group" LOL.....I am going to do a second weigh in tomorrow. I am starting to feel like I may be abe to stand this even though
