I would love to talk! You are so kind to offer. If you feel comfortable send me your number. Because it is an international call it will cost $. So you know I'm not some crazy person, I'm a nurse at CHOC in Orange California, phone # 949-292-8700. I was raised up your way tho, east side if Seattle. Small world isn't it?

I haven't had the surgery yet, still in the process of insurance approval etc. It is so wonderful to hear from a 55 year old success, thank you! A few questions: Was recovery difficult? How long did you take off of work? Are you really not hungry? Has it been a challenge to eat smart or is it still a battle? I'm so worried about failure! Having failed with the band, and every diet before and since, I'm petrified that this "last resort" won't work. I have about 100lbs to lose and with diabetes and high blood pressure rearing their ugly heads I need to do something before its too late. Would you do it again? Thanks for your insights and encouragement.

Hi Tricia, I'm from Edinburgh and now live just outside the city. I'm sure your daughter would have a great time if she came to Scotland for a visit. Well done to both of you on your weight loss.xxx

Hello Trish, I am so glad that all is working out fine for you both, I am doing good i have lost 49 lbs so far, still not doing a lot of exercise, don't find the strength and discipline to keep on doing it. but will get on it, by the end of December i want to be at least 205, be under the 215, that is 25 i think i can do it if i get serious, because honestly i am not eating healthy food, I am not helping the surgery and is a shame after all i went thru.

A big hug to you and mimi

Hi Trish, better every day. One of my sites opened so I'm off to the pharmacy to get some tegaderm so it heals from the inside out, using polysporin too. I can't remember if I told you I had a reaction to the pre-op scrub, red blisters from boobs to belly button! Prednisone and betamethasone cream is helping. Other than that its just sip sip sip, I added greek yogurt and that held ok, might try some well chewed cottage cheese next week. but right now my primary source of protien is the 2 shakes each day, they give me 60gm protein which helps.
I'm really happy to see your results! I'm thinking wow that can be me by New Years, I will have not been in the ***'s since my early 20's!!
  11. Aren't people strange!! 50 lbs is noticeable. Maybe hey didn't want to embarrass you. HArd to figure!!

Yeah, nearly 50 lbs now and nothing...You would think a bunch of teachers would be more observant! How am I feeling? Wow, that's a good question. I don't think I put out a vibe but who knows? I actually was talking about watching my carbs with a friend and she was talking about starting a new healthy eating plan. Still...nothing. Ahhhhh! Haha. Going to see some inlaws I haven't seen in awhile. We'll see if they even notice. Thank you for asking!
  13. I'm gutting my office today. Do you think I can throw away notes from 2002?? It feeels good!!

Not one person said anything! lol Oh well, I know, right? I wish I could sit for a few minutes - been pushing school furniture around for 2 days - my poor back. But everything is out of boxes so my room is starting to take shape. Anyway, it's all good - thanks so much for asking!!

bat wings

by BCmomabear on 10-23-2013 at 12:48 AM
So I'm 15 months post sleeve and have lost 78lbs. Still need to loose another 40, but am not confident that will ever happen, as I have not last any weight in the past 3 months. However, I'm kinda OK with that, as a size 16/17 is a wonderful improvement over a 26/28.
I'm 56 years old and postmenopausal, and have a slowing metabolism.

I am sure my bat wings weigh a pound each. I am considering getting them done, even though I still weigh as much as I do (about 202). There

60 lbs down and back from a holiday in Mexico

by BCmomabear on 01-14-2013 at 11:18 PM
So I'm 6 months out and 60 lbs down. Just got back from a week in Mexico with my hubby... the best vacation EVER!! The first wonderful thing was fitting in the airpalne seat so nicely. Secondly was the huge gap in the seat belt, when I used to need an extension. I was even able to cross my knees in this little charter flight!!

I danced every night with the live music. I LOVE to dance, but it had become almost impossible at 280 lbs. Now, I could dance for HOURS!! Well, I was dancing

Dancing 56 lbs lighter

by BCmomabear on 11-19-2012 at 01:30 PM
Last night a bunch of us got together to celebrate November birthdays. I was really looking forward to the evening as there's always lots of laghing and dancing. I have not danced since I began this weight loss journey and I have lost 56 lb with another 50 to go. Well, the music started and so did I. OMG what a difference. I danced nonstop for at east 2 1/2 hours. I felt like the ever ready bunny. My stamina was incredible. Can I ever move better!! I'm not even sore the morning after!!

Larger clothes and a reality check

by BCmomabear on 11-17-2012 at 01:07 PM
I am 55 lbs out and have shrunk sizes considerably. I know that I have lost a lot of weight (but am only half way to goal), but I sometimes just can not see a big differance when I look in the mirror. I have focused on trying to keep my physical changes and perception of myself in alignmnet, but it is not always congruent.

I invited a friend to go through all my former clothes, and take away what she wished. I knew that many of my old clothes would be quite small for her. Well, I

Itchy skin and scalp

by BCmomabear on 11-15-2012 at 06:04 PM
I'm 4 1/2 months out and 55 lbs lighter. I lost quite a bit of hair over the past couple of weeks, and it's starting to slow down. Thank goodness.

My lab values are very good and I am eating well. I take all my vitamins everyday. I have changed no products. I can hardly sleep at night as my ankles, hips, abdomen, elbows and scalp are making me nuts.

Anybody else having this ssue??
