About Girl6
- Sleeved or not sleeved:
- I have had a gastric sleeve.
- Biography:
- I've been home for a few days since my surgery on 1/25/12 and I stumbled on this site and found to to be a good way to share information and support.
I'm from New York City and I have always been 'plus size'. Pretty face, but heavy. I have always been 200+ pounds and I would make attempts to lose weight with diet and exercise. It will all work and then I would go back to the weight that I started with. I was servely uncomfortable with the weight that I had become and wanted a change that would help with my depressing mood. I was referred to do the surgery through my mother because she had gastric bypass and she is doing great.
I was very fearful and most of all ashamed to have to do such an invasive surgey. Fearful because it is a surgery and a ashamed because I would often think that I was young and I should have the will power to lose and keep the weight off alone. Nonetheless, with counseling and support from my mother, I underwent the gastric sleeve and so far things are going well. I guess i will keep you all posted.

So I am seeing results and I am loving it. From 240 and I am now down to 193. Drinking a beer or anything carbonated is a definite 'no.' Wine and mixed drinks are cool for me. I do notice that my tolerance is very low. What are your views on the surgery and drinking alcohol. Anyone ever noticed any weight gain due to drinking?

I had my surgery on January 25 and I've been having menstrual bleeding since then and this is about 5 weeks now.
I have a condition called polycystic ovaries and this has happened in the past what I was in my late teens, however I am now 27 and have to deal with this. I have gone to my bariactric surgeon and he refered me to my GYN and he has prescribed me birth control as a last resort. I have been taking them for 3 days and it doesn't feel as though my menstraul is holding up. I'm
