Hi Diana - sorry it's been so long - I haven't been on this board in a while.

Things are going pretty good. we moved to Andrews Texas a couple of months ago for a change of pace. Wonderful community. Karla is doing well - works at the hospital. I'm substitute teaching and enrolled at the Univ of Texas to finish up my degree - online program. I'm down 90 lbs - been pretty easy for me - haven't lost anything in about 6 months although I've made no attempt to. Good news is that I don't gain any weight. Have another 30 to go - will set my mind to it one of these days and get it finished. I hope your hubby is doing OK - sounds like you've got some challenges ahead. Tell him I said hi! All for now - dave

Thanks, I been hesitant to tell anyone that I am going to TJ! Did you get a private room? They keep telling me that lots of people go shopping after their surgery, did you? Leaving tomorrow early morning, 3 hrs drive to the airport and then 7 on the plane! Yikes! Now they are telling me that I wont get me blood work until thrus morning, oh well, it is what it is, just as long as I get my sleeve I'll be ok!

Diana, thanks for the so nice message. Its funny, I have never been a twitter, facebook kind of guy. Kind of ironic b/c I work in technology. None of my siblings (of course my wife does) except my brother who is a Dr. knows of my escapade to Mexico. I have never met anybody on this web site but I feel an incredible closeness to people I correspond with like yourself. We all are in the same boat and have all heard the snide remarks, unusual looks, etc. It hurts. Four years ago I went to my 30 year High School reunion and got quite a few remarks like boy you changed more than anybody!! I knew what they meant. Well, I am going to my 35th in September and I cant wait. Hopefully will be down quite a bit. But most importantly this is for me. My wife has been incredibly supportive too.

Anyways, I will tell Dr. A hello. I started my liquid diet today. And congrats on your weight loss. You are almost at your goal. You and your husband or significant other make a a very good looking couple.

Hi! Your experience has really eased so many of my fears and questions. I am having my sleeve done by Dr. Almanza and my father is going with me for support. I am scared of the pain and of course have tons of questions, but this site and others are super helpful, thanks for your posts!

Hi there! Been a long time - and the one year anniversary is over. How are things? How ya doin? Things are fine with us - possibly considering a move to another state - we'll see. So far down about 90 lbs, Type II is gone, high blood pressure is almost gone, sleep apnea is gone - so bizarre! Write back soon - dave

Hi Di, well here I am just over 2 weeks since my surgery and 10 kills down! How fantastic is that? I had a couple of rough days, caused mainly by me rushing my drinking. Now I have learnt to slow it down and listen more. Hope you are well and Thankyou for your support a few weeks ago!
  12. Hey there David! Glad to hear from you. It sounds like we are doing about the same with our weight loss. I've lost 31 pounds but it's been very slow with lots of weeks of just maintaining. However, like you, I'm OK with it as long as it just keeps going in the right direction. I'm really struggling getting enough fluid in. I absolutely despise protein shakes and if I try to drink as much as they say we need to then there's no room for food! Some days I feel like I can eat quite a fair amount and other days I can barely eat two or three bites. I also hate exercising but I'm hoping the spring and summer will at least make me feel like taking walks. Jim is back in Taiwan but is hoping to not be there more than a couple of weeks. I'm so happy to hear from you. I guess it also helps me to know that I'm not the only one losing slowly. My goal is 100 lbs. by the end of October and technically I'm 1/3 the way there. That kind of makes it sound better, huh? Please say "hi" to Karla for me and I'll tell Jim you emailed. Keep the scales moving in the right direction and if you come up with any really good recipes, maybe you would share? Diana

Hi - sent you a message a week or two ago - not sure you got it. My weight loss goes in phases - there were several (3 or 4) periods (week) that I didn't lose anything. So far I'm down 47 lbs from 321.4 to 276.6. I'm actually OK with this pace - I'm eating fairly good (what I want) but not getting the exercise I should. Hopefully when it warms up I'll change that. All for now - dave
  14. Hi David! Good to hear from you! Apparently you got all our snow because we've had very little so far this season. Christmas was OK...Jim didn't get home from Taiwan until 5:30 Christmas Day so I was upset. You're doing great! I'm down 25.5. Seems like I lose about 1/2 lb. per day for 2 or 3 days then stabilize for 3 or 4 days before I lose again, so it's been pretty slow going, but like you say - at least it's still headed in the right direction! I eat just about anything I want only MUCH smaller amounts. I'd probably do lots better at losing if I would leave the carbs and sugars alone! I absolutely HATE protein drinks and I've never been a big meat eater so it's been a challenge. And I've never been a big drinker so it's been difficult to get much water in. I'm also very sedentary in my job and I guess because it's dark when I get up and go to work and dark when I get home at night I'm always tired and don't feel like exercising! Hope that will change as the days lengthen. Others are noticing the loss though so I guess that means I'm doing OK. Just wish it was a bit faster. Have you ever heard from anyone else that was there with us? Say Hi to Karla! Diana

How ya been? We had a good holidays - went down to Phoenix for a couple of days. We had about 3 feet of show - which was record setting - about a wee before Christmas. I still have about 6 inches of it on the ground in my back yard.

So far down about 43 pounds (oop - just jinxed it). Seems to go in spurts - down 3, up 4, down 5, up 2 - but the trendline is still good.

    Hows about you?

    dave

broke the stall

by ChaiDi on 06-30-2012 at 07:36 AM
I don't normally blog here although I do respond to other's blogs/questions, however I just felt motivated to share a few thoughts this morning...I finally broke a very long stall! Yea me!!! For the past 2, maybe even 3 months, I had vascillated within a 3 lb. range...up one day, down the next, up again for a couple of days, then down...I was almost at the point of deciding that my body had chosen the weight it would settle for and that I needed to change my "head" and just be thrilled
