Surgery went very good and I am home recovering nicely. I've lost 12 pounds already and feel wonderful. I don't know the full effect on my sugar yet as I don't see my endo until this Thursday. I can tell you that for me the immediate change was in the strength of insulin I have to take. I used to take a U-500 insulin (normal insulin strength is U-100). After surgery they put me on Novalog and my sugars are still kinda high (between 150-200) but they are definitely better than they were before and with a lower strength insulin! I'm sure my endo doc will tweak my insulin dosages in my pump to accomodate and get me under tight control again but in the meantime I am doing well.
I hope your lazy stomach continues to correct itself and you continue to lose weight.

Hey how's it going. Hope things are well. Since surgery I have gone from 227 to 190. I am so excited. How are things going for you. Kinda nice to see how someone who had surgery on the same day is doing.

Hi there. Im doing ok. In a bit of blah stage I hate it. but my dr. said it was normal. Im loosing bout 2 pounds a week so that helps me feel a lil better lol I also had a hernia repair too but i was lucky my dr did it when I was in there for the sleeve. Keep me posted when you go in. when are you having your surgery?

Liliana, Hi again. I have loss about 20 lbs. I only wanted to lose about 25 total. I started out with my first bypass in 1978 at Balboa in San Diego. I weighed 298 and went down to 180. It reversed itself and I went back up. I started taking some medication for high trigarides (msp) and I dropped back down to 165. I had surgery to remove a couple of tumors and gained up to 183 but then my sugar and BP went thru the roof so another dr went in and did a modified sleeve and I am now back down to 167 and my sugar and BP has also gone down. I did not do this for the weight but to get everything else back down to normal. Yes Tricare picked up all of the bills.. My husband and I are in Mo now and both retired from civil service me 30 yrs and him 10. How about you? Where are you located and did Tricare take care of you?

I went in on Friday morning and was home by Sunday afternoon. There are some very interesting books at Amazone.com. There are two gastric surgery for dummies book. One talks about the surgery and one is for after with recipies. Go for the used ones, they are cheaper. Good luck and keep in touch. Tell your daughter good luck also.

I am anxious to get the surgery, just finishing the final steps, hope to have the surgery by March. Can't sleep too well either mostly because I think about the surgery a lot. How long was your hospital stay? I need to lose 100 lbs and my daughter is getting the surgery too, she lives in NC. Thanks

Good for you! i do not see my Dr until Tuesday. Trying to stay away from my scale here at home but sure is calling my name. I did let myself get too dehydrated and got my butt chewed from my husband, as I am a nurse I should know better. I feel great can't wait to start back to work on Thursday! I have been drinking shots of protein to help keep up. There is 23g in 2.9 oz.

I am doing pretty g00d. Still a little sore but getting better. Trying to get in more water but is just doesn't go down as easy as thicker fluids. I did try 3 tiny bites of cottage cheese yesterday....not so good. So gonna stick with thicker fluids for now. Also I needs to start exercising. I go back to work on the 15th.

Santy Thank you for your thoughts. I am now home resting. 1 oz of clear liquid every 15 minutes is where I am now. Had a modified sleeve due to some internal problems. Hurt a little but I am a tough old bird and will survive. Again thanks for the thoughts.
