Hi, my name is Terri and I would like to join the nurse's group, but I don't see a way to join. I am currently an acute dialysis nurse and my vsg should be scheduled in early June, pending insurance approval. Thanks for the consideration.

Hi Just found your group. I had surgery May 8th at Umass Memorial. Would love to know how everyone is doing. My loss has been very slow, I have a thyroid condition that I beleive has really slowed my losing down.

Just joined as a Massachusetts sleever. I had my surgery done on Jan.29th at St. Vincent's Hospital/Worcester Medical Center. I look forward to talking to everyone.

Congrats on the loss. I am doing good. Weightloss has slow down a bit but I think it will pick back up once I exercise more during the summer.

How are you doing? Btw, I found out our bougie size. It is 40Fr. All the doctors at BWH use the same size.

I feel pressure in my chest when I eat too fast or too much. I have to remind myself to eat slowly. It is hard to eat slowly than drink slowly for me.

I have no regret. It is a great tool.

Hi, I am doing well. Losing weight slowly and steadly. All my incisions are finally healed. Eating soft food without any problem. Love my sleeve. Btw, do you know what bougie size the surgeon used? I kept forgetting to ask them.

I know--it's weird how they make these rules. I asked my surgeon how far out he had ever had a patient develop a leak, and he said 3 weeks ... I'm assuming that's how they came up with liquid diet for 21 days. Thanks for the website address--I'll check it out!

I sent you a friend request. I am on liquids for 21 days post-op, then graduate to "slider" or soft foods for another 21 days. Next Tuesday I will celebrate with some cottage cheese!

    Congratulations with your weight loss!

I was wondering how you are doing. Glad to hear you are doing good. I got bored with my shake too. I started making broth and add unflavored protein powder to it.
  11. So I am 6 days out and feel really good!! I lost 18 pounds as of today!!!! (that was 11 on preop diet and 7 since last tuesday!)... Knock on wood I have had no complications Definately some soreness..the gas pains are the worst!!!! I am an RN and now I can 100% sympathize with all my patients when they complain how bad the gas pains are (worse than incisional pains!).. But I got up and walked the first day after surgery (around the unit in hospital) and havent stopped since, so I am not sure why they are still so bad???? I stopped everything containing lactose as well figuring that would help and stopped pain meds... so far its helped a little!

I am sooo totaly BORED of these shakes tho!!! I hate them.. Im doing the protein shakes (all diff flavors) and the isopure.. (blah!) Im not hungry/hungry just really want something else!!!! rgh!

I am having surgery on the 24th also. Very excited and yet getting nervous, not about the surgery itself but about the post op diet, getting in enough protein, getting in enough fluids. I feel like I can't get enough information. Excited to start this new journey. Good luck to you!

We have quite a few hurdles to jump through, I did a 12 wk succeed program and all the other stuff. But 2 wks prior to surgery had 5 protein shakes a day and could put nuts and berries in them. I crunched the nuts and omitted the berries, don't like crunchy stuff in my creamy stuff. Then nothing to eat after midnight, surgery went well and came home next morning. He said I could stay another night, but that would have changed my deductible. So home I came, I have a wonderful support system. I hope all goes well for you, keep me posted!

Starting to slide back into old habits!

by deesleeve on 04-10-2013 at 11:05 AM
I am 1 year and 2 months out from my surgery! I have lost a total of 67 pounds! I have felt so great and have not had ONE migraine since my surgery (I think it was from giving up the carbs/sugar/caffiene)....
Since Christmas I have not been as careful as I was with my eating. I havent been eating anything near the recommended amount of protein and notice I am now eating more carbs (wheat thins) and sugar (jelly beans, sweet tarts etc)
I am finding I am eating this stuff instead of meals!

First day on soft foods!

by deesleeve on 02-07-2012 at 03:28 PM
Started on soft foods today and it went well! I had an egg for breakfast and some tuna for lunch! Was only able to eat a few bites of each and felt some pain in my stomach so I am assuming it is telling me to stop eating, it is full????? I made some bean chili for dinner in the crockpot! Cant wait to try a few bites of that too!!
Hope everyone is having a good day!
