Hi There - I saw your blog today and noticed you are from Oregon as well. I wanted to know if you recommend the lap band being done in Mexico. My insurance did not cover and I really would like to do this. How was your experience in Mexico? Also, where did you go for Post Op's? Thank you so much for taking time to read this

Thank you for sharing your deepest inner feelings. By being so open you also help others to open up about themselves and only this is the beginning for them and myself to really uncover feelings that probably contributed to our obesity all of these years. You are beautiful inside and out and no weight gain or loss can change that.

    Rainbow,
Your post on "Why I didn't tell anyone" has really made connect with feelings in my past that I couldn't really put my finger on. Confidence has never been a problem with me no matter what weight I was throughout my life. With this being said, I have now been able to see the "resentment" I have endured over the years from friends not understanding where this confidence came from since I have always been overweight. I have "friends" who I now see has sabataged me as much as I have myself. I don't love them any differently for this, I love them even though they had their insecurities about themselves. But now can see the "light" that they needed me to STAY fat so they feel better about themselves since that was the only thing they had over me. These are the very people that I DID NOT TELL about my surgery. I am silently enjoying them watch me on my controlled diet and waiting for me to fail. Which of course you and I know I WILL NOT. The only thing that has changed in myself since I have begun this journey...is now the only area in my life I did not have confidence in was my control to control my eating habits. The skipping meals, maintaining a high weight regardless of eating or not eating. I now have control of not overeatting. I now am in control of saying I need to eat my meals and focus on me for once in my life .. I am putting me first.

Thanks for excepting my friend request. It makes you soooo much easier to find and I find your blogs so inspirational and informative. It is weird seeing how wonderful you look and my head immediately says, "You will never look like that, just be grateful for the wl." I know my attitude will change as I adjust over time and loss.

Hi Rainbow! I know that you have had issues in the past with losing too much weight so I thought that you would be the best person to talk to. I was ready to be done a little over 5 pounds ago, but every week to two weeks I am down another pound. I have made the lifestyle change with the help of my sleeve, and due to addiction (yes, its really that bad) to chocolate/sweets, I will likely never eat these again. My simple carbohydrate intake is minimal. At lunch I will eat 1/4 c of pasta or rice, or have a sweet salad dressing or a small slice of bread. I am happy with these changes and really do not want my diet to start to include foods that I have notoriously had issues with. I eat when I am hungry and stop when I am comfortably full. I eat about 1200-1500 calories a day. I run 3 days a week (this is down from my 6 days a week of intense workouts during my losing phase). Any ideas on how to make this stop???--I will post this as a forum, too, since others may have some ideas, but I definitely wanted your take. Thanks! DrK

4 + years out update

by Rainbow on 11-04-2014 at 01:13 PM
Hello my fellow sleevers! Just a quick update. I am still maintaining my weight loss. I do think i can eat more then i use to, but am not gaining weight. I can eat 1/2 a peanut butter jelly sandwich for lunch. i can carefully eat a 1 piece of pizza for dinner, if i eat 2 because i am stupid and irresponsible then i puke up my dinner and feel horrible! Soft mushy food still feels and sets better then solids. Staying hydrated is still something i have to be diligent about. I still do not drink my

Identity Crisis, sometimes you lose more then fat

by Rainbow on 03-03-2013 at 10:37 PM
I went to a funeral yesterday. I ran into a dear old friend i hadn't seen in a while. I hugged her and we started talking politely, then she said "OH my gosh!Hug me again!" (her first hug was kinda wimpy) Now she hugged me really good like she really MEANT it this time and said "When i first hugged you i didn't know who you were, I just didn't recognize you!" Similar reactions continued the rest of the day from dear old family friends and relatives. Funerals are emotionally

Take care of your emotional needs

by Rainbow on 02-25-2013 at 07:45 PM
A newbie on here is having trouble with this so i thought i would share my advice with Everybody on here as i feel this is really important. If you are feeling like your nerves are "raw" and cant tell if you are sad or angry but you know you just don't seem to be coping well with daily life there is something to take into consideration.First I just want to assure that what you are feeling is "normal" but it is also a warning. There is a good chance You are grieving your old

A new observation by Rainbow

by Rainbow on 02-19-2013 at 02:26 PM
When i was first sleeved, it was a challenge to get used to eating such small portions. It felt so unnatural and my body had this strange kind of sensation as i was losing the weight like i was STARVING to death. It was burning my fat stores and I knew that was the whole point, but it was very unsettling physically and psychologically. The first year i felt VERY self conscious eating in public or around other people. My small portions made me feel like a freak. Sometimes people would comment on

When do you STOP loseing weight?

by Rainbow on 08-16-2012 at 01:48 PM
This is a great question! You don't stop losing weight usually until you reach a healthy goal weight, then your body just lets you stay there. For some people who have less to lose say around 100 lbs, this gets a little trickier, as you can get under weight! This happened to me. When i kept losing even after i was at my goal weight and size at first i was like "Woo HOO this is Awesome"! But as i got too Boney and Gaunt my Husband started freaking me out because he was sure i was going
