updated picture? How are you doing? I go to my 6 month check up today and have been on a MAJOR stall....but my hubby tells me I'm losing inches, and I am walking every night, so I guess I'll have to just trust that it will all come off with time.

how are you doing?? I hope all is well with you! I am doing pretty well, loss is slowing a bit but my energy levels are increasing wonderfully! ie: I'm healthier and that matters soooo much!

I work at an association management company. I work with our client's accounting needs and conference registration processes. It seems to be a good fit....however the Accounting class is just helping me to feel a little more comfortable with the "why's" etc....

I looked back at my last stall and it was a month long! This one is going on 3 weeks....I am beginning to have little doubts enter in, but hope that I will start losing again soon. Ug! Now that you mention it, I too have noticed around my period that I crave carbs more.

How are you doing? I am in a stall again, I think this might be my 3rd or 4th...so I am not as freaked out as I have been before. I am so looking forward to getting in to onederland, but don't see that happening til maybe the end of March or early April....we'll see. I know with snow hitting the ground it has made any walking not happen....but I know come spring that will help a lot! My husband is talking about maybe getting a couple months of fitness club membership at Snap Fitness to tide us over....wonder where I will find the time for that?

Pretty funny about the 60 yr. old. Love it.

People are noticing quite a bit and frankly I find it strange and kinda embarrassing. I am not used to being noticed or complimented - so that is taking some getting used to. I am not embarrassed either but I do not volunteer the information. If they ask point blank I will tell, otherwise I am just cutting back and exercising more.

I had some hair loss but I normally do around this time of year, plus I had back-to-back surgeries (knee surgery and sleeve) and they tell me hair loss is also a symptom of anesthesia. So I don't stress too much about it. My hair grows pretty fast and the loss has slowed. I don't want to be an old - fine - bald lady HA HA.

....speaking of number crunching, I am taking an accounting class this semester for my job. I guess I'm destined to be a number cruncher too.

My sleevie twin! I am glad to hear from you! I started taking biotin about 1 1/2 weeks ago, and so far so good with the hair thing. I am at 90 days today, and from what I hear 3 months is when people start to notice hair loss. I really hope I don't lose a lot (if any). When I colored my hair 4 weeks ago, I did notice more loss than normal, but everyday washing and styling, I haven't noticed extra loss.
How is food? Able to eat more variety? I am eating everything, I suppose....
Any problem areas? If I eat too much sugary stuff I feel pretty yucky, which I am thankful for! I pray I keep heeding my body's signals!
I also tend to probably not get enough fluids in. I'm lucky to get 3-4 8 oz glasses in a day....

I am down 43 lbs as of the 7th. Pretty exciting. Doing a lot of walking and water exercises. I love the water.

    How is the new job?

Love the huge news. I love putting on pants that are baggy - so good for my ego. : )

Congrats on the new job. Let me know how your first day went.

I don't know if I could do salad....haven't tried yet. You had no problems with a few bites? I have been able to eat most everything, except I had problems with some broccoli. It seems if I just take it slow. (Which isn't always easy...)

I am trying to figure this all out...I guess it takes time and I have the rest of my life. I stalled at 30 lbs and now I am having a bigger longer stall at about 40 lbs. This long holiday weekend I have eaten more carbs, and that is the only thing I can think of that might be different...maybe a few more calories but I bet I am still eating less than 1000...maybe less than 900 per day.
How often do you eat? I eat a little something about every 2-3 hours it seems...stopping by 7 pm at night. (total of 3 "meals" and 2 snacks I guess) Does your doc tell you to eat differently than that?
I am glad that the numbers moved for you! I think our bodies just don't want to give it up. Thanks for letting me know how you're doing!

Holiday Baking with the Sleeve

by numbercruncher on 12-22-2011 at 01:55 PM
I did my baking today. I made fudge, caramels, peanut butter cups, chocolate lollipops, jam prints, snowballs and toffees, and I didn't eat even ONE PIECE. And it wasn't because I was trying to be good or anything. I just didn't want any. I had a healthy, protein filled breakfast and a healthy, protein filled lunch, and sipped my favorite sugar-free beverage while I baked and I had no desire to put sugar into my body. My husband, who is working from home today, had to try everything for me

Closet Cleanout - and a new start

by numbercruncher on 12-18-2011 at 07:56 PM
I have been putting off the closet project for a couple of years now. My weight has fluctuated so much that I just didn't want to know what I had vs. what I could wear. Today was the day. I went through everything. I have clothes all the way from a size 12 to a size 2X. I threw out all the 12s, since they are over a decade old and out of style. I also donated most of the 2X's, since I will never be that big again. Then, I separated my clothes into two piles: work clothes, workout clothes.

Back in my nice clothes!

by numbercruncher on 11-30-2011 at 06:37 PM
I had two job interviews this week - for an upgraded position at my company - and I was thrilled to find that I fit back into my nice professional clothes. The last time I was able to wear them I weighed a bit less than I do now, but I think my body is shaped differently than at any other time. I seem to be more compact. Does that make sense? Has anyone else experienced this?

The Three Week Stall

by numbercruncher on 11-05-2011 at 09:46 AM
I've found several references to the three week stall. I hit three weeks on Wednesday and I haven't lost an ounce since. In fact, I've put on a pound. I know it can't last - I'm not eating enough to maintain my 238 pound body - but I'm fascinated with how smart my body is. I'm not weak. I'm eating plenty of protein and drinking as much water as I can. What's going on, physiologically?

Dieticians like to talk about putting your body into starvation mode. How is it possible that

too sore?

by numbercruncher on 10-28-2011 at 07:38 PM
So, I'm a bit over two weeks post-op, and I worked my usual hours yesterday and today. I teach math part-time at a local tech college. I teach one class on Thursday mornings - 9 to 1, then another that evening, 5 to 9, then I get up on Friday and teach another section from 9 to 1. During those hours I have to be at 100%, full energy, no sitting down, lots of bending over. And I write on the board a lot, so I am stretching my side constantly. By this afternoon I was SO SORE. I was told that
