I have some questions about this app...I posted this under your blog but I didn't know if you would get it or not...
I have this app and used it before my surgery but don't know because I can not find the food i want and also since we eat smaller sizes i didn't think it would work out so well. Do you add food to it?? If so how do you add it? I would love to use this app again...it was helpful before....and i feel i am out of control sometime on my picks and this would help to keep track for me to let me know where I am...
    Thank you for your time...
  3. It is as great site! I am already feeling more energetic than I have in a long time! I am taking it easy to recover but at the same time doing more, than I had in awhile. ( does that make sense)?? Packing up tp move is a huge task! I am glad you are able to do so much more than you could have before! I know that is a great feeling of accomplishment!!
  4. I have been to Waterloo several times and have friends who are from there! Hope all is going well for you! I am working on recovery as I am now 8 days out. Feeling better today! Weight is coming off and I am walking and working to get the protein in! Just thought I would touch base with ya! Have a great day!
  5. Hi Lori! I am from Iowa too and about to get my sleeve done next Tuesday (8/28/12) I am nervous and excited!! I just wanted to say hi to you! I live in Council Bluffs. What part of Iowa are you from? You look great in your picture! I hope I am as successful! Peace and God Bless!! Tami
  6. Thank you so much for sending me a note with good wishes! I am doing so well that I can't believe it!
    You are so kind!

Healing slowly. Armpit wounds opened up and am doing daily woundcare. But, no onfection and local plastic surgeons claim my Mexico doc did an awesome job so that helps me deal with all the discomfort! Tummy is great with no isssues. No regrets at all. Thanks for asking!

Hey Lori! Yes, all is well. New lessons to date come from Oprah and Wayne Dyer's new movie/drama (the Switch). It lays out the switch from the beginning of life - the Ego to the latter half of life when we are ready to lay down the ego and replace it with service to others and fulfilling the passions of our life.

I am in the passion part of life and ready to jump in. Down 115 lbs now. Thankfully learning how to prioritize and not let "loosing weight" take over my life. I am so happy I had the surgery that has totally transformed my body and spirit. Planning a trip in October to visit a friend in North Carolina. On the list of "to-dos" is zip lining and mountain hiking. I can't wait. By then I will be ever smaller so I won't have to worry about the things of the past and look forward to the possibilities.

Thanks for checking in and I will be in touch. Hugs back!!!!!

I'm in Norwalk, just south of Des Moines. Yes, my daughter is active in marching band, she loves it. Does Waterloo compete at Linn Mar or the contest at Valley High School in West Des Moines. We are there every year as well as one in Waukee and one in Ankeny.

Yeah, my loss is way slow right now and I'm battling some bad habits. Really trying to get protein back on track. My surgery was witb LaMasters in WDM.

I'll be in the Waterloo area Wednesday. My cousin has a pbotography studio in Cedar Falls & he is shooting my daughter's senior pics for me.

    Thanks for messaging me!

It brings tears to my eyes to hear that. As a person that totally understands how debilitating the weight was I feel you excitement. I am so glad you had a good time. It only gets better.

Hey! Good to hear from you. Everything is going good. Still trying to find that "balance" though. I am down 88 lbs. Attended a conference in Washington, DC last week and did LOTS AND LOTS of walking afterwards. By the time I came back I had lost 8 lbs in one week!!! That was insane and my body felt every bit of it. I am still recovering from it. The key for me is making sure I have food to eat when I am hungry. I find that if I don't, I want to eat whatever is around so I have to keep my healthy stuff available. My next mini-goal is 100 by my next dr. visit which is in July. Walking is fantastic. I love it, all I want to do is walk. We have a gym at work, but I find it limiting and boring so I don't go that often. Love the way clothes are fitting too. How are yours, how many outfits have you had to give away lately? Don't know about the numbers for blood pressure and such but I hope they turn out as well as yours. Don't forget about me; lets keep in touch! If you ever want/need to call me here is the number - 713.398.0791 (Vanessa)

I'm good. The weight loss is slowing, but my doctor is really pleased with the blood test results and I feel good. You look gorgeous. I really ought to change my profile picture. I don't look like I did 70 pounds ago, either. Good to hear from you.

Almost 15 months out

by Rescued-one on 01-12-2013 at 05:18 PM
I haven't blogged for a bit, in fact last time I blogged here I was going through the 5 day pouch test around Thanksgiving. After Christmas and New Years I found I had gained 5 lbs....I knew it.
I had overdone the carbs and even chose to not record on myfitnesspal.com my food a few days, cuz it was JUST.THAT.UGLY.

I was feeling very down...and concerned that I wouldn't lose this new 5 lbs, since I have been on a major stall (3+months) and was basically thinking that "maybe

Pouch Test Follow up - one + week later

by Rescued-one on 11-21-2012 at 10:59 AM
I have settled in to a moving-of-the-scale-for-the-first-time-in-two-months-2-lb.-loss.
Which is different than the original 3.5....but I am very happy.
Also, more aware of my proteins and liquids....so I will use this tool again when needed.

Happy Thanksgiving ALL!! We have much to be thankful for, no?

Day 5 Pouch test

by Rescued-one on 11-15-2012 at 08:59 PM
I plan on continuing with solid proteins and plenty of water... No drinking 30 minutes before or after I eat.

I will add back small amounts of carbs...but would like to keep them to at a minimum...especially over the holidays.

I will use this test again when I feel like my carbs are getting too out of control. It is such a good tool to remind me that my sleeve is still working.
I'm curious if others who have tried it were happy or dissatisfied?

Day 4 pouch test

by Rescued-one on 11-14-2012 at 07:38 PM
Ground turkey, ground beef, chicken breast...solid proteins showing me what my tummy feels like when it is full. It is good to know my sleeve is still working. Fluids between, waiting at least 30 minutes after eating to drink, are refreshing and purposeful.

Each day, especially today, it was EASY to eat less than 1000 calories, where before...with exercise, I sometimes felt like I wanted MORE each day after eating 1200-1400 calories. (I have not exercised during these 4 days...I

Day 3 - Pouch test

by Rescued-one on 11-13-2012 at 07:29 PM
Today was about cottage cheese....boiled eggs and some soft chicken breast. I also had plenty of fluids and even some revelation.

The pouch test has been like a "spanking". A spanking in the good sense of the word, making me realize where I've been naughty and helping me change my behavior.
It hasn't exactly been pleasant denying myself, but it actually has been really good seeing how much I have NOT ben denying myself.
It's not like I haven't been eating
