Hi there. I have a question for you. Did you ever experience stalls in your journey? If so, how did you handle it? I'm stuck and am looking for a way out. Thanks.

Thank you for your note. I'm discovering more and more people that are unhappy with the band. My surgeon was Dr. Snyder. I can't say that I've been real happy with him or his office staff and I would not recommend anyone to him. It's not that he is a bad surgeon. They're simply not organized there. The stories I could tell you, but I'll leave that alone. I had to pay out of pocket and will have to pay for the sleeve myself, too. This is just getting too expensive for me so I'm going to Mexico. I have a lot of fears about it, but feel I just don't have any choice. A friend of mine goes to Tillquist for her fills and has been having trouble recently getting it at the right place. She is also considering having her band removed and going with the sleeve or plication.

Thank you so much! I can't believe I am 9+ months post op. It seems like yesterday. How are you doing? Staying cool in the heat?

Hey there....we are at the same weight together...very cool. We are both doing a great job. what are some of the things you have found that sabatoges your diet or day. Mine is candies and snacks that I can eat with no problem. That scares me. Carbs just slide down. I'm going to need to be very careful and not fall back into hold habits.
Have you had an issues with hair loss?
  7. It will be 3 weeks tomorrow since surgery! Feeling pretty good. Seems like if I don't get enough protein or eat enough, I notice my energy levels goes down a little. I do better when I'm keeping these things regular in my diet each week. A milk/whey protein powder drink, 1/2 bottle of Isopure, eat cream of wheat or high fiber oatmeal, canned tuna and if I can get an egg cooked over easy down a few times a week too, my weight loss and energy levels are much better. This last week has been pretty busy and I didn't get some of this in and my weight loss has stopped dead! So I'm back to concentrating on these power foods for me because I'm being active and I'm not even eating 1,000 calories each day so I have to contribute this to a loss of focus on my protein. Let me know what seems to help you keep the scales going down and what are your power foods!
  8. One week out from surgery... A lot can & does change in a week! NO nausea... NO stomach pain... NO head pain... Just following the guidelines, resting and taking care of myself, makes things go better! I'm so glad this last week is behind me. It feels like surgery was 2 or 3 weeks ago... It was a long week as I went through it but now all is good. I'm just a little on the tired side... I know I need to add more liquids and keep all that protein going. That is my goal for the week... Just keep on doing all the right things to help myself lose weight and get healthy! I hope everyone else is doing well this week too!!!

Hey: Glad to hear you're getting better. Once I started the protein and some soup, etc. I felt alot better.. The nausea medicine also gave me headaches... in which I was able to stop that about day 6/7. Can't believe it's been 5 weeks today...wow...You won't believe how fast the time flys. Keep me posted..Hang in there..and if you need to chat/type.. I'll be here!

Glad to hear you are doing better. I was very nauseated to and had horrible heartburn the first day, my doctor had given me a script for zantac liquid it stopped the heart burn and i think that help with the nausea as well. Good luck with your recovery.
  11. 3rd day out from surgery. I am feeling so much better today! Things I am thankful for today... Surgery is all behind me and there is NO turning back now! Not throwing up or nauseated anymore. :-) Able to start getting some protein and a few calories in me. No pain in my stomach. My neck no longer aches horribly (probably from the position of surgery).

Things I'm hoping to add to the above list soon... Stopping the heart burn or reflux. Getting rid of a sore spot on the right side of my head.... (did they drop me in surgery??? lol!) Just a little headachy. Eating just a little more. Taking a walk in the beautiful fall weather.

I hope everyone is doing well and progressing to a healthy state of mind & body. Good luck and all my best wishes to you!
  12. I just got back this afternoon. Not much pain at all except that I was really nauseated the whole stay in the hospital until last night, when they gave me something to help me sleep. Doing pretty well today, just tired. I'm so glad this last week is behind me. Looking forward to the rest of mu life with eating under control.

1 Year Out!

by Girlmoose on 10-14-2012 at 02:49 PM
Wow! I can't believe it's been a full year since my sleeve surgery. It is the best decision I have ever made in regards to my health. No regrets!!! I can feel full without eating so much food. That is totally awesome! It can feel like I overate way too much but in reality it is just the right amount of food. I find it interesting the signals between and our brain and our stomachs. It truly is a special relationship between the two of them... Used to be a love/hate relationship... mainly

6 Months Out!

by Girlmoose on 04-22-2012 at 11:26 AM
I can't believe it has been 6 months. The months planning the surgery, the weeks before and after surgery all seemed like time was just slowly passing by. I think having surgery in mid Oct. was a little difficult with the holidays and trying to be "normal" with eating. The 2 months after surgery was the learning curve time. Things are really tight and that uncomfortable feeling comes really quick! 3 months after life was seeming pretty normal. And here it is 6 months later

3 Months Out!

by Girlmoose on 01-17-2012 at 02:50 PM
I can't believe it was 3 months ago today! I've lost 31 pounds! Sounds unbelievable but at the same time really S-L-O-W too... I try not to focus on the weight or the time frame. I know I would never have been able to lose 31 pounds in 3 months by myself... T took some 3 months pictures today. Tried to upload them but it wouldn't let me. I'll try again later. I don't really see that much difference for 31 pounds but again I'm not going to let my head get in the way because the clothes sizes

6 Weeks Out

by Girlmoose on 12-01-2011 at 11:02 AM
I've lost 22 pounds in 6 weeks! Sometimes I feel like that isn't very much and maybe I'm not doing well but when I think about 6 weeks = 42 days = 22 pounds that is really good! So, I have to work out keeping my thoughts about the scale in perspective and stay the course! I just have to realize the scale goes up and then flat and it all works out in the end, when your doing the right things... Drinking lots & getting plenty of protein, vitamins and etc.

Had company for 10

4 Weeks since surgery and my progress...

by Girlmoose on 11-16-2011 at 11:27 AM
I can't believe it has been a month since my surgery. I'm so glad this first month & 16 pounds is behind me! I was discouraged because week 3 was a big disappointing stall. UGH! My Dr. told me last week not to get on the scales but once a month and take my head out of it... I don't think I can do that but instead of twice a week, I'm going to once a week weigh ins. If that doesn't work, I'll reconsider.

It does help to look back on your monthly progress & feel the success.
