My surgery couldn't have gone any better. You are going to LOVE Dr. Kelly and Trish. Seriously, she's a Godsend. If you can wait to have the two procedures done together, I would, less pain for you. But if you are just too sick of the band and want it out now, than go ahead and do the two procedures separately. But the guy that was there with me that had a revision was already loving his sleeve when we left. I'm sure you've studied up on the difference between the sleeve and band, and what you can eat on the sleeve vs. the band. If you haven't, I would. From what I gather, the sleeve is sooooo much less complicated, you are allowed to eat so much more and there's nearly no complications as long as you are educated on the sleeve and what you can and cannot do. Take your vitamins; drink your water. They tell me I pretty much need to live with a water bottle on my hip. Really easy to get dehydrated if you don't keep liquids in your body. So far, the sleeve has been great for me. The only thing I'm dealing with is a little gas from the surgery that's trapped in my left side. But other than that, I'm pretty much living on soups being I'm on the liquid diet still. And I'm losing weight pretty rapidly. I may just stay on soups lol. But honestly, I couldn't be any happier that I made the decision for the sleeve, and that I chose Dr. Kelly at that. Good luck!!

Good luck on your upcoming surgery!! I just had my surgery with Dr. Kelly last week. There was another guy there that had a revision. He was flying high by day 3; as I was still in a little pain lol. You won't be disappointed you chose Dr. Kelly; he's an awesome surgeon and a really sweet and personable man!!!

My insurance company was really vague, but told me there are no surgeons in my network who do the sleeve. If approved, they would approve a surgeon out of network, which may mean I will have to travel. I know they'll cover me for bypass, but I don't want that. I will argue that as a cancer patient, who's been through chemotherapy, I should not go the malabsorbtive route b/c good nutrition is what I need to prevent me from developing cancer again.
