Hi! I'm not here much anymore either. Been doing pretty well. Feeling good, working hard to keep my activity up in the gloom of a Seattle winter. It's tough for me to be motivated to walk outside in the cold and wet weather. I'm up 8 lbs this holiday season....got a little too liberal w/sweets and getting that in check. I also stopped tracking my food and getting back to that to hold myself accountable. Thanks for checking in - it's nice to hear from you! I'm sure you'll say goodbye to those few extra pounds. Have a good 2020!!

People I haven't seen in a while or haven't seen since before surgery are shocked. I regularly get the "do you have cancer" question with a lot of the people in this category.

Thanks! I truly do love this new life. Determined not to go back to where I was.

    Cheers!

Hi, I've been away for awhile and just catching up on all the posts. So sorry to hear you are still in pain. Have they figured it out yet?

Congrats on changing the course of your health! Taking diabetes out of the equation is a big deal. Praying that the pain subsides soon.
I've experienced a bit more "shedding" of hair lately. It's not patchy, but still a bit concerning. At the end of the day though, my health is paramount and my hair will grow back. I think about weight gain too....that's why I really try to look at this as a lifestyle change not a 'diet'. I've failed at many diets in the past, but this is for the long haul.
I appreciate your encouragement, thank you! My family is pretty proud of me, it's great to have their support. My niece lives out of state; I'll be going to visit her and her family mid-October. Can't wait for her to see me; I'm the smallest I have been in my adult life. She's seen pics and all, but it's a little different in person, especially when she'll be able to wrap her arms around me!
Keep up the great work! Slow and steady wins the race!
  5. Below is what I read on another tread that I found profound. I think it’s important to keep in mind when it comes time to keeping the weight off. The part about her old friends no longer on the site was scary to me. Not going to happen to us!

I have no clue of the statistics of regain. I assume the people who gain aren't on these boards anymore. In fact all the "friends" I made 5 years ago are gone. Just know if you go back to your old habits you will regain. Stick to the program and it's really magical! Never in my wildest dreams did I think I could be a normal sized person. Those of us who maintain have all found what works for us. Everyone is different. Some count calories, some follow certain programs, and some just never overeat. I just do the protein first, then veggies, then good carbs at every meal; I have never counted anything. I have the occasional treat which I balance out with my love of exercise.

Thank you!! I'm feeling SOOO good!
    How are you doing?
  7. Me too. I am finally beginning to worry. It’s better but the pain is definitely still there daily. I really haven’t read up on the procedure to know what could be wrong. I’m glad I go to the doc on Thursday.

Hey! I'm not sure that much pain this far out is normal. My pain subsided within a couple days. It could be that your staple line healed in a weird way. I would definitely let them know next time you see them. Keep us posted! I hope it isn't anything serious.
  9. Tamera2 - I’m sorry for my slow response. I’m not the greatest at this website. I’m doing ok. Actually great as far as losing weight. Almost 50 pounds so I am pleased with that. I still have a lot of pain when something (anything) presses on my stomach. Like the car seatbelt and even the under ware I wore 50 pounds ago! Yes, they are falling off but still hurt my stomach. My doctor and nutritionist both said they had never had a patient with this problem. I see him for the first time in 2 months this week. I’ll see what he has to say this time. I might need to have my tummy checked out. It’s definitely better but still really hurts. Everyday I say I will start exercising. Not happening yet!
    And how are you doing???
