I agree with you about the liquid diet being boring! I get to......i start pureed foods this week and I am so excited!! I'm not hungry either, but just the thought of another protein shake or soup.....ugh! How are you doing with getting your protein in? I'm worried that i'm not getting enough. How are you feeling? I hope you're feeling better!!

Hi Elllie....I went for a walk outside yesterday and it was awesome. How are you feeling today? Have you had your first week check with your Dr?

Hi elllie. How are you feeling? I've been thinking about you.
  5. Well this time tomorrow I should be having my sleeve. I will only know tomorrow when i see the anaesthetist if I will be able to go ahead with the operation. My cold has got a little worse, so its a wait and see game until tomorrow. It's a really awful not knowing and also knowing that with all the physical and mental prep it might not go ahead and then I am not sure when the surgeon will be able to fit me in again. I am happy though that I have lost weight on this pre op diet and i feel great. Good luck to those having the operation tomorrow.
  6. Hi! Its now 2 weeks until I have surgery. I am starting the pr op diet tomorrow. I am really getting very nervous and hope I can manage to stick to the pr op diet. I realized I always drink water with my meal, I don't know how I am going to manage not drinking whilst eating. The water drinking is not a problem for me as it is all I drink anyway. I am also having my first set of bloods taken this week and I hope that all will be ok. How did everyone else get through this stage and still cook for the family?
  7. HI everyone, I was wondering if those people in the UK can recommend what why powder, protein shakes they used before and after surgery. I have bought an Atkins one, which i can tolerate. I have also bought Tesco slim. So any suggestions will help. Thanks
  8. HI I hope I can get some advice and support. I have now finished reading all the information the dietitian has given to me, which we spoke about in the session yesterday. However having read all the information now and seeing in writing what and how I can eat, it is very daunting. I am not a milk lover and the thought of drinking milk based shakes etc is very worrying. I am also nervous about the mushy stage and then onto the solids. I am starting to panic that I wont be able to follow the diet. I am now having second thoughts about the procedure, although I know its the best thing for me. Does anyone have recipes for the liquid only stage and any advice on how to get through it.
  9. HI! I went to see the dietitian and the anaesthetist today. The anaesthetist appointment went well and he was reassuring. The dietitian appointment was overwhelming, so much information for pre and post surgery. She also gave me a weight that the majority of people get down to who need to lose the same amount as me and it is still much higher than I would like to be. She said that its just a figure that the average persons loses, but i could lose more. This makes me nervous for the surgery as I don't want to spend all this money and have so little to eat, to lose such a little weight and still have a high bmi. I just hope that with me sticking to the diet and exercising I will reach the target weight I have set for myself. It is now 4 weeks to surgery, so the count down begins. I am still nervous about the month on liquids. What have people had for the liquid stage? advice and recipes would be much appreciated. Hopefully I will see you on the Thin side

Hi Ellie, I'm having surgery in June. Looking for a travel buddy if not I will be going solo. (Going to Mexico for my procedure) Good luck! Share some of the basic info with me from nutrition class. That's not required in Mexico. I'm going to see if I can find an independent class.

Hey how are you doing? How many weeks away are you know?
  12. HI! I have not been on the forum for a while as I have been on holiday. Hopefully this will be my last holiday being really over weight and heavy. I have 7 weeks until surgery, I am still nervous and excited at the same time. I am going to try and start cutting back from now before the 2 week diet so that it is not such a shock to the system. I look forward to reading everyone's success stories and with all the support and positivity everyone here gives.

Hi I'm new too and have some concerns. I know a couple of people personally who are having success not without some issues to work through but for myself I believe it will be worth it. I'm also responding because I just want you to know you are being heard. Keep reaching out on here. You will find inspiration and support from people who have completed the process and maintaining their weightloss. Best wishes!
  14. I have just returned home form seeing the bariatric surgeon for the second time. It has been confirmed that I am going ahead with surgery. My date isn't finalized yet, but will be in the beginning of April. I am excited and nervous. I still have to see the dietitians and have a few assessments done, but that will be the easy part. My surgeon wants me to exercise and I can't wait to get back to playing tennis comfortably and joining in other gym classes. I only swim now as I can hide my body when swimming and swimming doesn't cause any negative impact on the limbs. I am going to try and remain positive throughout.
  15. HI! This is my second post on here. I have not had the operation yet and am still in the consideration phase. I have been reading up on the gastric sleeve and came across a website about what one can eat after surgery and forever. It says that you can't eat, steak, raw fruit and veg and popcorn ever again. please tell me if this is true? I am also concerned that people are gaining weight after the sleeve or not losing much, I feel like if I am having such drastic surgery I don't want to be in either of those categories. I look forward to hearing from people

feeling good! :)

by elllie on 12-13-2018 at 06:19 AM
Well, i have now been home for just over a week and am still a bit jet lagged. However so many people have said to me that I have lost allot more weight and am wasting away, lol. The thing is I only lost around 2kg, probably not even that. My personal trainer also said i look slimmer and more toned. All i can do is say thanks and laugh because I don't think I look that much slimmer and the scale doesn't indicate it. In fact I am eating more than before, as I seem to be hungry all the time since

which scale do I follow?

by elllie on 09-22-2018 at 01:43 PM
Today I weighed myself at the gym on a scale that I have weighed myself on before and normally it is 1kg less than my scale at home, but today it was 4kg less. When I looked at the numbers on the scale I thought something was wrong, it said 68kg. I think I like that number better than my scale at home, lol. The last time I weighed 68kg must be around 20 years ago. I will probably still go by home scale, but boy its nice to see the numbers go down and realize I haven't got too far to go until my

love clothes shopping!

by elllie on 08-14-2018 at 09:52 AM
HI! I just felt I had to chat about clothes shopping. In my younger years and when I was very thin ( anorexic) I loved to clothes shop. However for the past 17 years while I have been obese and constantly gaining weight, I hated clothes shopping. I would cry whenever I went into the fitting rooms and saw my reflection and the size clothes and that nothing looked nice on. Now its a different story, although I am not at my goal weight, I have been shopping and loving it again. I am trying to buy clothes

personal training

by elllie on 07-10-2018 at 08:17 AM
Toady I had my 3rd PT session and loved it. My PT is a great guy and really pushes me. He has worked out very quickly that I can actually push quite heavy weights and am quite strong, just not too fit and very stiff. I am struggling with what to eat to keep my energy levels up during the hour of weight training. Today I had one scrambled egg for breakfast and would not have been able to eat anything else. Does anyone have any suggestions? If I had the money I would have a PT everyday, lol. The

by elllie on 07-09-2018 at 03:17 AM
I am officially no longer obese! My BMI now puts me in the over weight category. Now the next step getting into the healthy range. I think the last time I weighed this was around 15 years ago.
