  1. I did not have a sleeve actually, I had a Mini Gastric Bypass instead. My sister had the sleeve same day as I had the MGB. Does anyone know if there is another forum I should be in rather than the sleeve one given mine is a Gastric bypass? I've been posting here because there was not one I found. I assumed it was pretty much same stuff anyway.
  2. Well creeping down slowly but surely. Fast loss in the beginning, but much slower now. Suspect by the time I'm a year or maybe less out from surgery I'll be at my goal which is 100 lbs lost. The gas problem has subsided much now, but I've found a remedy for that, which is probiotics and digestive aids such as colon health etc. Those worked miraculous, where it was certainly a huge issue for me previously, the gas problem is all but gone so long as I remember to take those daily. Healthy anyway. I eat most everything lately, other than a few items which persist in being hard to handle, mainly pasta of most all kinds, and pork. White chicken in very tiny quanitities seems fine, but if I try to eat wings or dark meat, keep a path open to the john. I try to reintroduce these aversive foods every now and again, but the reaction is pretty much always the same thus far. Potatoes are my friend, easy to handle, most vedgetable, lean burger, beef is tolerated. I don't do the shakes, as I'm eating plenty of cottage cheese and high protien type foods. Could not find a shake that worked for me, yukky. Could not stand them. Anyway.. an update of sorts, doing well, losing well, all is good. Sharen (aka Canuck)
  3. Well I am now about 2 and a half months after Mini Gastric Bypass, and I've lost 44 lbs to date since surgery day. Not bad. Can't believe going back down from over the 200 mark. Yipppeeee. Can see that my goal of 100 loss will be even quicker than originally thought. I suspect by spring or at the latest early summer I'll be there, ready to don shorts and a bathing suit for the first time in a gazzillion years. Seems surreal.
Only issues I've had are still a good deal of gas, and that bad feeling, a chesty lump if you eat too fast. My best advice to anyone is go slow, eat incredibly slow and small, or your body will fight you. Alleviate gas and that feeling relatively fast by getting up and walking around, much like in the hospital with extreme gas.

Anyway.. was it worth it all... hell yes. I had my surgery in Mexico and it was in a clean hospital, no complications, happy with everything. Here in Canada I could get same surgery free but didn't want to go on a 4.5 year waiting list. I'm already 55 and at the time could foresee being turned down due to age after waiting all that time and who knows just what size I would have become in those 4 and a half years. Paid to go to Mexico, and worth every dime in my case. My sister went with me and is happy as a clam too. Her weight loss much the same as mine, a little slower as she had a sleeve, versus a mgb that I had.
