Hi Tommy....Your messages have served to calm me down some. I'm as nervous as an old sow in a bacon factory! At my age, 66, I've never been in a hospital since I've was born and it's the fear of the unknown that has its choke hold on me. However, the positive factors of losing all or most of my diabetes, having my blood pressure medicine reduced and the ability to do the things I haven't done in decades truly inspires me! I also realize this is not a "magic bullet" and is a tool for me to use or abuse. I choose to use it! Thanks again for your messages.

Hi Tommy....Thank you for the inspiration as I'm excited and apprehensive at same time. Weighed myself this morning and am at 475. Down 30 pounds in just two month. Again, thanks!

(2nd message Part) My mother had double hip replacement surgery about 15 years ago and when her hips started hurting about 2 years ago got the shots and no more pain. My sister started having hip pain and couldn't walk her dog. (She is 53) and got the stem cell injections and she is pain free now. I was so impressed I went ahead and had the lipo and had my stem cells banked even though I don't have any current aliments. Younger cells are better for healing. So, when I'm 70 and have these problems I'll have my 45 year old stem cells already in storeage! Anyway, They mix the stem cells with PRP Platlette rich Plasma and PRP really helped my mother with her pain starting the next day.. The PRP works right away and the stem cells take 3-6 months to fully work. They didn't do any laser therapy. If you want I can put you in touch with one of the no pressure girls at the clinic that can talk to you.. You can ask her about the laser treatment. She is really great and takes great care of my 75 year old mom. They are also very honest about things that work and things that don't work.. I had a friend with a weird back issue and they told him it probably wouldn't help him .. Which is nice instead of just taking his money and it not working.

    Hey Tommy,
    (First message Part)
We have a vacation home in Satellite beach so we are not far from you (during the winter) I'm in Maryland / Dc in the summer/spring/fall.
I would 100% recommend going with the doctor/clinic my family used.. Here is there website. http://usstemcellclinic.com/ They are in Plantation it's only about 2.5 hours south of Melbourne. They are also much cheaper than anyone else. The first session they have to liposuction out the fat and then seperate the stem cells.. This is the big upfront Cost. I believe it was $6,000. This yields enough stem cells for about 30 injections. The annual cost to store the cells is $200 and the cost for future shots is just $500 . My mother has ostio so bad in her shoulders she couldn't raise a coffee cup to her mouth.. Now she is pain free. She has had shots in her shoulders, knees , hips, and hands. Here hands would clinch up at night and she had to soak them in hot water in the morning to unclench them. Now is it pain free. Her knees had zero cartilage left and she has gotten them shot up twice. It's reduced the paint but she will probably still need surgery at some point in the future.

Hi Tommy, you posted one time about a recipe using refried beans. I meant to save it and now I can't find the post. Do you mind giving it to me again? I'm only 8 days post-op but want to add it to my arsenal of soft foods. Thank you!!

Glad you are back to losing again. I know that's rough to see it stop after such hard work and dedication. I didn't know about your hip though I hope everything is ok! As for golf, I tried that once .. not for me. It was fun to just hit the ball, but to actually go around the whole course; no thanks.
Anyway, yes I am a few days off and I have surgery to join the club. I am so exited! Thanks for your well wishes and I will keep everyone posted. Take care!!

Hi Tommy, how is your progress coming along?

Hi Tommy, your very welcome! I'm glad if you can notice a little improvement. Constant pain is draining.. May be your nut will be able to help you more during your next post-op regarding the supplements (I think the doctor might not, but you'll see). I must say that I've been using alternative medicine for almost 30 years now, some things work, other don't. Homeopathy can be a big help, the key is consistency. But because I had health issues since I was a little kid, I had to look for alternative medicine because if conventional medicine did save my life several times, I also suffered some really bad side effects. So I try to take the best of both world
I'm going to try to take capsules of Emu oil again very soon, I did take it 12 years ago when I lived in New Zealand and had some ligament issue. I was also doing physical therapy and other things so I'm not sure what worked, but I will take a break from my omegas and switch for Emu probably by the end of the week, if I see an improvement I will write a blog about it. Have a great week too! take care!

I'm replying here on the post you left on my blog. I did write you about taking homeopathy (that was on your blog) with names of what I take. Basically arnica is the main ingredient, homeopathy is always safe I gave it to my kids since they were babies.
To answer you question I started to take turmeric when I was one year out, but my surgeon cleared me to take anything (except NSAID's indeed) when I was one month out. I guess some doctors are more cautious than others, but also mainly because they are only used to deal with conventional medicine and know nothing about supplements. For example my surgeon told me I was fine to take my omegas at one month, but my nut disagreed. She was right, I couldn't digest it before 3 months out.
Regarding the turmeric, it's also a spice, you can put it in your food. One of the main property being anti-inflammatory, it's actually recommended to heal stomach's lining, you should search it you will see.
So I'm not telling you to go against what your doc say, I'm just saying their knowledge of supplements is limited. Regarding homeopathy, you can look online on Vitacost or iherb. It's much cheaper compare to prices in pharmacies but also you will see many comments of people using it.

I am doing okay with the exception of the allergic reaction to the glue from surgery. I had a fried egg and refried beans last night, which was a good protein booster for me. It tasted good, not going to lie. I am still drinking my protein drink every morning, which fills me up. I am going to start exercising today, walking with my daughter. I am down 20 pounds, so happy about that for sure. I am so happy you're doing well! It's so nice to have someone on this journey with me!!

Finally - First Major Milestone achieved ((Down 100 lbs))

by Tommy1969 on 10-19-2017 at 07:02 AM
Well, it's about time! I finally hit my first major milestone albeit it took 8 months. I know I would be down more if I could exercise more but I have severe osteoarthritis in my hips. I am looking into stem cell therapy and then if not an option I will need to consider having both hips replaced. However, I will not do that until I lose at least another 80 pounds.

On the bright side, I am walking more, triple the daily average that I was pre-surgery so I am happy about that.

6 Months Post Op and Fingers Crossed

by Tommy1969 on 08-12-2017 at 06:30 AM
I can not believe it has been 6 months already post op. I remember the days of sucking down chicken broth, slurping sugar free gelatin and being hangry! lol

Now I can say that I am completely adapted to my new way of life with my sleeve. Best decision I made in my life for countless reasons.

I am down 90 pounds now but that has been with limited exercise due to having severe osteoarthritis in both hips, just diagnosed 2 weeks ago because I finally could fit into

4 Weeks Post OP

by Tommy1969 on 03-14-2017 at 09:43 AM
Hi All,

Just thought I would give a brief update. I am doing great! Still no complications so far, ((knock on wood)). I am on the mushy stuff. I drink 2 premier shakes a day along with lots of water. Last Saturday I had some Mo Pa Tofu, it was amazing. And Sunday I blended some rib-eye in my nutri bullet and then cooked with onion and RAO's Marinara sauce and it was amazing. Was kind of like sloppy joe consistency and did not have any trouble eating it.

I ate 2 scrambled eggs!

by Tommy1969 on 03-06-2017 at 02:21 PM
Not sure why but this excited me. I made 2 scrambled eggs for dinner last night, a little butter, 2 eggs, salt n pepper a teaspoon of reduced fat sour cream and 1 minced jalapeno. Took me 1/2 hour to eat it all but it was wonderful. Think I will do it again tonight!

Good news is I love eggs and can eat them every day so excited about that. Think I will now try cottage cheese, ricotta, humus etc during the week.

Tired of soup!!!!! Although I came up with an

14 Days Post Op.

by Tommy1969 on 02-28-2017 at 10:38 AM
14 Days since surgery and feeling pretty good. Now that I can have thicker liquids I am able to get more calories in which has helped my energy level. Getting the fluids no problem. Lesson learned so far, keep using Miralax during these stages. The train got stuck at the station and that was not fun but we got it moving again!

I am trying a little egg salad today, just had a few bites and chewed it well and no issues so far.

I feel very fortunate to have not
