Hey Tamera, I live in Edmonds, but work in Seattle. Isn't Seaside awesome? I believe they have a sand soccer tournament there...should bring the girls down there one of these years. Hood to Coast is definitely a bucket list item that needs checking off. Yes, without a sense of humor...we die! Getting too damn old to be all pissed off at the world. My daughter is a Freshman at Grand Canyon University and my son is a senior at Edmonds Woodway HS...waiting to hear from the Air Force Academy. What do you think...Hood to Coast 2018? We can find 12 runners easy...18 months...too soon? Let's goal set and you have an awesome weekend my friend.....Alvin

Hello Tamera, yes...soccer is awesome and those teams in your neck of the woods are tough. We play tournaments down there all the time! Hmmm...my diet. Well, I pack my food everyday and I'm boring as hell. Generally it's this:
    Two yogurts--Dannon Fit and Free
Chopped Salad everyday with cashews added and either turkey or ham or flavored tuna
Muscle Milk protein drink 100 or 160 calorie
Adkins protein drink---strawberry is totally addictive
Cashews and Kind granola for my yogurt
    Kind bar for snack
Also a buttload of water and I cup of coffee a day

I do cardio everyday for 50 to 90 mins depending how I feel. Treadmill or Elliptical
I lift for about 30 mins directly afterwards
3 days a week I have 90 mins of soccer on top of my morning workout.

Hey....do you Fitbit? If you do, hit me up for a Fitbit friend. I've heard awesome things about Hood to Coast...a team would be fun. I've run the Capitol City Marathon in Olympia and the Portland Marathon which is wonderful. Keep in touch and sorry I didn't respond asap...didn't receive my notification. Chat soon....Alvin

Hi Tamera, Thank you for reaching out. I am doing better now, how about you? I had stopped taking my depression/anxiety medication prior surgery and found that not to be a good thing. Mexico was difficult for me with the laid back culture. I am a very antylitcal person and felt like I had been on a trip to hell. Once home, very tired - cant seem to get my stamina back but each day is a bit better and I went into my docs office this past fri and had stitches removed and one incision still healing a bit, but they ran full labs and I see my PCP doc tomorrow. I have had good weight loss so far. Ive been faithful to my vitamin regimain and intend to seek out a nuturitist. tell me about your post op to now. Kelly

About Tamera2
Sleeved or not sleeved:
I have had a gastric sleeve.
Biography:
I'm a married mom of 2, a grandma of 4 and Aunty of 2. I love all three roles. I also love the ocean, spending time with family & friends. I also love discovering new places. I've been overweight for many years. It started when I developed MS in 1997. I became depressed and became an emotional eater. I would conquer the depression and every time I would push through and try different diets; I'd loose weight than my MS, CHF or another one of my diseases would flare up and I would have to ease up on exercise, depression would worsen and the emotional eating/snacking would start again. I'd overcome than I'd develope another disease and have a set back. I was not happy with my life, didn't like how I felt or looked. My weight was out of control and I made a decision to take control of my life and improve my health. After working with a counselor and attend some classes I choose to have WLS. I got my health stable except for developing diabetes, sleep apnea, high B/P . I had the Sleeve and joined the Marathon and found my passion. Hiking and Mt.Climbing. I no longer have diabetes, High B/P, Sleep Apnea. Bye Bypap/Oxygen Woohoo!! I would love one day to help others battling obesity and regain their life back. Maybe one day I will become an Motivational Speaker. I went from living my life either in bed or in the hospital and the little time in between went to my family!! NOT anymore!! I’m free to enjoy life since having WLS. I can do what ever I set my mind too. That is an amazing feeling!!!
Completed Climb school for Mountaineering and Rock climbing in 2018. 11-16-18 I had my Sleeve converted into a bypass by a Doctor in the States! I developed acid reflux around 14mos postop. Around May 2018 I developed A-Fib and started having breathing issues. Turned out a new Hiatal Hernia dragged my stomach into my chest. I had a stoke in September of 2018. My reflux was continually getting worse despite stronger PPI’s. Unfortunately with my history of Hiatal Hernia, acid reflux. Dr Almanza never should have excepted me. Revision’s are very risky and I know this first hand. I had multiple complications and I almost died during complication #2. I spent months in the hospital with short stretches of being at home. I first was feed through my central line and received TPN and now feed formula through my G-Tube. I had severe nausea and frequent dry heaving for months living off of nausea meds & Ginger tablets. has of March 2019 I’m starting to see improvements. I loved my first year being sleeved and it was a wonderful tool. If I knew then what I know now I would have choose either RNY or DS instead of VSG. I recommend seeing a surgeon that does other W.L.S too not just the Sleeve. That way you stand a better chance at getting the best option for you.
