Thank You So Much! I just wish I had done this sooner

    Thank you very much!

I rarely exercise, when I do I just walk on the treadmill.
I eat what I want but because of the restriction of the stomach I cannot eat much still even almost 3 1/2 years later.
I didn't go exercise crazy like a lot of people because I knew I WOULD NOT stick to it. I didn't want my body to get use to it when I knew I wouldn't commit to it. That's plain honesty right there! I see so many people that went exercise crazy starting to gain because they stop the exercising, and or start eating things they tried to stay away from. When I even walk on a treadmill I end up losing weight so I stop because I do not want to lose more. I now find myself needing to throw in a tablespoon of peanut butter or something with higher calories because I cannot eat enough to get in calories to make sure I don't lose weight.

My personal experience was the mindset of don't start something I can't, or won't, continue for a lifetime.
That probably isn't much help but that's my personal experience.

So... I eat what I want and just live life.
All and all I make sure I get my protein and vitamins first because I don't wanna have my hair fall out again!!!
After protein and vitamins I honestly eat what I want to eat.

Good luck to you!!! It's a crazy, nice journey to experience. I would NOT change a thing at all. I would do it all over again. I'm happy and healthy.

Happy 2 months to you as well. I think we both have a lot to be proud of I think how much input we have given to those looking to have WLS is to me at least the most important thing.

Thank You Tamera for your kind words. I feel as anxious and excited today as I was the day I gave birth to my children, if that makes sense. I see this as a rebirth too. My sister say's "It's your Do Over." I'll be in touch!

Hi Tamera2, thank you for your "welcome". I'm in Port Townsend, WA and stand at the very beginning of my new life. I have made the decision, I have Dr Almanza assigned to me and am waiting on tender hooks to see if I will be accepted as a candidate. Best of luck to you on your journey!

    Hey Tamera

Thanks for writing and I appreciate the compliment. I'm probably a bad example to follow when it comes to benchmarks for doing things and eating things. I am impatient and pushed myself to get back to normal as quickly as possible. I had the procedure on a Thursday and was back at my desk the following Tuesday. I couldn't work a full day, but, by the end of the week, I was back to normal. As for physical activity, I was back at lifting weights and exercising a week after that. I'm an ex athlete so my core strength is at a different level than most at my age.

As for the gurgling, my stomach gurgles after I eat every time and I'm a few months away from five years post op. I just learn to live with it. It's annoying as hell, but, a small inconvenience when looking at the big picture. The hungry sensation you are feeling is probably indigestion. Pretty common for the first two or three months. Take ppi like prilosec or zantac and that should handle it for you.

If you need any advice along the way, please feel free to email me at wmd1@gmx.com

I'm glad to help whenever asked.

    Robert
  13. Hi Kelly, Glad to hear your feeling better and looks like your having good weightloss too, Congradulations. How much did you weigh before surgery if you dont mind asking? I dont know why doctors can't be supportive. Aren't they suppose to want us to be healthy! It's just a tool.We still have to work hard, eat right and exercise. I found out right before surgery I was prediabetic and my endocrinologist wanted to start me on metformin. She gave me a choice to start now or wait 3mos and see if I could inprove enough with diet and exercise. I've lost 28ibs since surgery. Very happy with my results so far. Love putting something on in my closet I couldn't wear in a very long time and have it fit. I'm having trouble eating past day and and half. Started Yesterday after having very small cup of creamed potato soup made with nonfat milk. I felt very nauseated afterwards. Having increased tenderness today, don't know if its because my abdomin is more bloated. I'm up and walking though at least 3 miles a day. Next week I should hear from the nutritionist office. My husband got me a Fitbit watch. I'm supper excited to use it. What state are you from? Would love to stay in touch. Take Care,Tamera

  15. Hey Alvin, your about 3 hrs north of me. Thats cool we both live in the NW. I lived in Bothell,Snohomish, and Mulkelteo Wa. My parents grewup in Edmonds and Graduated HS there. My husband and I have a daughter who is 25. She is a home health CNA. She is still living at home. I have a step daughter thats 32 and 4 grandkids, 14,9,6,23mos. Seaside is so much fun and the Oregon coast is also Beautiful. one of my favorite places. You should definitely take your family down there especially since its been awhile.
Humor is one of the best medicines, agree you can't live without.
18 mos maybe a little soon but I'm willing to add the training as soon has I'm cleared for more than walking. Given my health history what a accomplishment that would be. I think setting a goal is a great idea. Glad to have you for a friend. Hope you have a awesome weekend too.

About Tamera2
Sleeved or not sleeved:
I have had a gastric sleeve.
Biography:
I'm a married mom of 2, a grandma of 4 and Aunty of 2. I love all three roles. I also love the ocean, spending time with family & friends. I also love discovering new places. I've been overweight for many years. It started when I developed MS in 1997. I became depressed and became an emotional eater. I would conquer the depression and every time I would push through and try different diets; I'd loose weight than my MS, CHF or another one of my diseases would flare up and I would have to ease up on exercise, depression would worsen and the emotional eating/snacking would start again. I'd overcome than I'd develope another disease and have a set back. I was not happy with my life, didn't like how I felt or looked. My weight was out of control and I made a decision to take control of my life and improve my health. After working with a counselor and attend some classes I choose to have WLS. I got my health stable except for developing diabetes, sleep apnea, high B/P . I had the Sleeve and joined the Marathon and found my passion. Hiking and Mt.Climbing. I no longer have diabetes, High B/P, Sleep Apnea. Bye Bypap/Oxygen Woohoo!! I would love one day to help others battling obesity and regain their life back. Maybe one day I will become an Motivational Speaker. I went from living my life either in bed or in the hospital and the little time in between went to my family!! NOT anymore!! I’m free to enjoy life since having WLS. I can do what ever I set my mind too. That is an amazing feeling!!!
Completed Climb school for Mountaineering and Rock climbing in 2018. 11-16-18 I had my Sleeve converted into a bypass by a Doctor in the States! I developed acid reflux around 14mos postop. Around May 2018 I developed A-Fib and started having breathing issues. Turned out a new Hiatal Hernia dragged my stomach into my chest. I had a stoke in September of 2018. My reflux was continually getting worse despite stronger PPI’s. Unfortunately with my history of Hiatal Hernia, acid reflux. Dr Almanza never should have excepted me. Revision’s are very risky and I know this first hand. I had multiple complications and I almost died during complication #2. I spent months in the hospital with short stretches of being at home. I first was feed through my central line and received TPN and now feed formula through my G-Tube. I had severe nausea and frequent dry heaving for months living off of nausea meds & Ginger tablets. has of March 2019 I’m starting to see improvements. I loved my first year being sleeved and it was a wonderful tool. If I knew then what I know now I would have choose either RNY or DS instead of VSG. I recommend seeing a surgeon that does other W.L.S too not just the Sleeve. That way you stand a better chance at getting the best option for you.
