    Hi Lisa,
How are you feeling? I sincerely hope that things have settled down for you. You should be going on or are on protein shakes now. Every post I've read from people that are where you are right now talk about the difficulty of getting in all of your water and shakes. The consensus is - don't sweat it. All in good time.

I'll check in with you a little later on. Take care and all the best!

I love Dr Doyle. She is an amazing and very caring person. Her whole team is fantastic. The diet was not bad for me I kind of pre-gamed ahead of time which made the transition much easier. I started a modified pre-op diet on June 1st which was two protein shakes, breakfast and lunch most days with a good dinner at night. Then in early august I had to officially go the on the pre-op so I did not go into complete shock.

AAMC has a support group meeting for pre-ops and early post ops that meets the third Thursday of each month you would find very useful. Our next meeting is on the 20th. There is a lot of good and helpful people who attend. We would love to meet you and help you too. I started going to the meeting before I had even decided on whether or not I was going to truly have the surgery, It is one of the things that helped me decide.
  3. I have the binder and have pretty much checked everything off my list. I still have to see the cardiologist (scheduled for Friday), the EGD and bloodwork and two more nutritionist classes. I'm hoping that she will give me a tentative date on 1/18. I'm super excited and can't wait to get healthy. Right now, I feel like I'm eating myself sick.

Hi! Yes, Dr. Doyle is AWESOME and you will be so glad you chose her! I had my surgery on 3/1. She is very strict about both the pre and post op diets. Basically the pre-op was mainly liquids. Post op was in stages from liquids to puree to soft and on from there. You will get this HUGE binder with all kinds of information in it - what tests you need to have performed, records that need to be submitted, and VERY detailed information about what (and what not) to eat. The pre op was by far the hardest part of the whole process. My surgery was a breeze with no complications (thank God) other than serious fatigue for about three months. If there is anything else you would like to know, just send me a message! Good luck! Cheryl
