I almost forgot the point of my story lol The moral of this whole thing is...be ready for the liquid diets after the surgery....I didn't see them coming because I couldn't see past the surgery it self...lol

Hi Karen..You asked me sometime back if I had any tips for someone going to have the sleeve done..First of all I am sorry it took me so long to get back with you..But if I had something to tell you is...I had a hard time dealing with the liquid diet AFTER the surgery..I was so intent on the surgery and what I had to do to get there...I was ready to eat after I had that thing!! But......I was put on a CLEAR liquid diet for a week afterwards!! then 2 weeks of the same liquid diet I was on 21 days prior to the surgery...then a week of soft foods..I was getting sooooo tired of not having real food I was getting mooodyyy!! lol but I stuck with it and made it thru and it is nothing but a distant memory along with 118 pounds as of today! Just stick with the diets before and after and you will leaps and bounds ahead of the game!!

    Hello

I from Ontario (Stoney Creek) did you have trouble getting the gastric sleeve, instead of the gastric bypass. Which they seem to be doing more of...here. I want the gastric sleeve, do you have to state your case so to speak, on why you want the gastric sleeve instead of gastric bypass even though both are covered under OHIP? I am kind of nervous, that they will give me a hard time about it. I am still in the early phases, my first appointment with nurse and dietican is end of Aug at St.joes Hosp.

If you dont mind me asking, how long did it take to book surgery from your first appointment with nurse?

Its great to have found another Ontarian there are not many of us

That is wonderful news and even better that its just a few weeks away!! Stick to your pre-op diet. On tough days, just remind yourself that your doctor won't perform the sleeve if you haven't lost some initial weight. I know you will do great! Feel free to ask me anything!!

Hey Karen! You will love this new journey! I am loving life more and more each day. I am almost 100 pounds down and love all the new things I can do like cross my legs, polish my toes, see my toes and have lots of room between me and the steering wheel. Thanks for the compliments. Keep us posted on your surgery and progress.

Hi, Karen! Congrats on your decision to get sleeved. In my opinion, it's the best thing that I've ever done for myself. I started a little blog on the forum a couple of weeks before I had my surgery. If you have time, check it out. It may answer some of your questions. If it doesn't, feel free to ask me anything. http://www.gastricsleeve.com/forum/t...y-journey.html
