I am definitely home. I had outpatient surgery and was home by the evening. It was nice to sleep in my own bed. My surgeon is connected with Cedar Sinai Hospital and has his own surgical center. I was told that low-risk patients he does at the surgical center, and high risk at a hospital setting. It's been three days since surgery and I am feeling better for sure, I have access to a 24hour surgical nurse who I have only contacted a few times. Pain is tolerable, I only took pain med yesterday once, and that was only to try to sleep longer. I am walking at the hour for about ten minutes and did the treadmill for 23 mins yesterday. Mostly I have heard people that walking helps with gas bubbles left in our bodies, but also helps to avoid blood clots. That is motivator enough to get me walking.

I will be on liquid (protein shakes and broth) for two weeks I think, then soft and pureed foods for another two or three weeks.

There are also "Vegan Proteins," I have had them in the past and have liked them especially the Raw Protein which you can find at Sprouts Market or Whole Foods or any health food market. Which have less protein content, but if you are allergic to milk products, or for humane reasons, those would be good alternatives. I have not read good stuff about "Soy Protein" in fact, a food coach I had ions ago, recommended that I not drink or eat a lot of soy processed products, though she did recommend miso soup for it's healing properties. I also read bad stuff about peanuts vs almond protein, peanut can cause inflamation while almond and other nuts are better.

Info can be overwhelming, but just take what works for you. I still use peanut protein in moderation, specially for those broccoli smoothies, it really cuts the taste and makes it taste better.

Here is what I have found about (whey) protein powders, there are others of course, but if you are going to go for whey choose organic and grass fed whenever possible. The ones that I am liking are "whey isolate" and "casein whey" and "collagen protein" and they all have different functions and prices, whey "isolate" and "casein" are about muscle building, isolate absorbs faster while casein protein is slowly absorbed so from what I have read it is a great nighttime or bedtime supplement. Collagen has its critics, I have seen several youtube videos and read articles that it is a "junk" protein - of which I disagree because I have also found support for it especially in the long-term studies. Collagen is great for skin and joint support, but you will not see results immediately, the benefits of collagen are seen long term and for those sleevers losing weight fast it would be of great benefit for skin rejuvenation , it is not a miracle food, but with healthy eating habits and exercise, people may need less skin surgery in the long run.

Thank you for the good wishes Vincent! Looks like your surgery date is set, it's going to be here before you know.

Was all set to go with Dr. Nagle 3 years ago. We moved to Aiken, SC, so am doing it here. Best of luck to you. They are a good bunch to work with at Northwestern.
