Updates and more updates...
In the last month and a half I:
1. Changed my psychiatrist appointment. My original appointment was for October and I didn't want to wait that long. I googled "Bariatric psychological evaluations" and got an appointment that week. The appointment was with a doctor who has been doing this for 20 years. It was very helpful; he gave me some good pointers for before/after the surgery. My insurance requires a psychological consult.
I have seen someone in the past who is under my insurance but when I called their office, she only does bariatric consults ONE day a month!! And she is on vacation on that day in September so the earliest available appointment is OCTOBER. I can't get a surgery date even set up until the insurance requirements are met, and I was hoping to have the surgery done late summer/early fall.

Two days later they called and said they had verified my insurance information and did I have any questions, did I want to schedule a visit with the nutritionist or did I want to think about it some more. She also told me that the doctor requires an endoscopy.
I scheduled the next visit with the nutritionist.
I saw my PCP on Friday and talked to her about it (I was so afraid she would not be supportive but she was!) My A1c numbers are up to 7.3 which is discouraging,

Today I met with the surgeon and a nutritionist. Overall it was a great visit. The surgeon put me at ease, went over benefits and risks, and gave me his personal stats. He answered all my questions.
The nutritionist was great. She asked in great detail about my diet and have me some practical things to start doing.
My insurance company requires 3 months of nutritional counseling plus a counseling visit.
