  1. 2 years out! My journey was not a pleasant one. My taste buds and sense of smell have disappeared. I can only eat yogurt, protein shakes, sweet corn muffins, some fruits and veggies and once in awhile salmon and chicken. I never had a sweet tooth but now I do and it's crazy. I lost 90 - 92 lbs

Oh my goodness! You've really had a tough time of it! I'm so glad you're doing better. No wonder you had a little breakdown in the doctor's office. I would be a basket case! Thanks so much for checking on me. I'm not on here much. All these stories are really making me think twice about surgery. But I KNOW it's what I have to do. I'm glad you do have some help. I'm praying for you!!

I was wondering how you are doing so glad you stopped to say hi. Good to hear you are doing well and down 37 pounds. I pretty much skipped the puréed part and just continued with soups and some soft foods like fish, boiled veggies etc. I am down 43 pounds from my starting weight. I feel that I have done well in the sense that I have not had any pain, any nausea, nothing to complain about. I have had a few stalls here and there.... But have been able to get past them. I love Greek yogurt everyday, and sometimes SF pudding. Other than that it's soups, and protein shakes. I had tuna at subway the other day and it went very well. I am not exercising mich are you? I have had a few issues with constipation but I am putting flaxseed in my oatmeal and also some Miralax on occasion.
I like you feel so much better already! Clothes fit better, and I feel a little lighter on my feet. My face is slimmer people say and my upper body slimmer.... Below, the belt I haven't seen much change but I know there is in my pants.
What are you eating? Do you have anything you love to,share regarding a good choice of food?

That's horrible. I'm so sorry that you've had to go thru this. Definitely not something anyone would want. How many sleeve surgery had the doc completed before yours?
  5. Unfornatiely, my outcome has not been so good. Doing a sleeve is supposed to be laproscopically and somehow he managed to cut my colon and all that bateria spilled into my body. I almost died, was in ICU have a tougher recovery due to large hole in the middle of my stomach that they have packed with black sponge and have a vacuum attached to it to help it heal from the inside out. I have to carry this backpack type thing that holds the vacuum. I also have all this tubing with being put on air. I'm not a happy camper at the moment. I was a week in the hospital so came home monday evening. i live alone and have my 80 year old absentminded mother trying to come over and help...which is just making it that much more stressful. but any help is appreciated. atleast i'm home with my puppy. (though I think she enjoyed her vacation a lot more lol) I'm stressed, exhausted, emotional, slow moving...don't know how long this will go on..pray that it heals quickly and i can at least feel normal. the only food related issues i'm having is just making sure i'm getting the protein and liquids in. i'm not missing anything...but i'm not surprised..with a hole in my abdomen doesn't make for much of an appetite. I you you guys are doing good. keep me posted with your updates!

Doing Great after near death double surgeries.

by kmvalade on 04-26-2015 at 08:11 PM
3 weeks out. I'm feeling really good now. still weak but can feel strength returning every day. doing a little walking (dog) but not too far. I have chairs placed around the yard so I can sit if i need to. I carry my peach tea with me everywhere. The wound in my stomach (from the emergency surgery because he cut my bowel open) is healing but it will probably be another 3 weeks or so before I don't have to wear this sponge dressing in the open hole. they are using a vacuum pump on it. which
