Good luck for your surgery

Hi Gary, you will do great!!! The first couple of months feels like you'll never be normal again. Even after you recover from surgery, your stomach is still swollen with lots of healing of its own to do. But in a few months, you adjust to the new way of eating....I LOVE it!!! I love going out to dinner with my family, enjoying whatever we are having and getting full and stop eating. No guilt!! But the dirty little secret is that there are slider foods that will not cause restriction. That's one reason why some gain the weight back. It's important for some people...me included...to do the inner work to learn new coping strategies so we don't turn to food for emotional reasons. I still can struggle with that, because the habit is so engrained. The book Intuitive Eating has really helped me.
